Abomination by Nobody: 4:11pm On Mar 10, 2022
The Abomination that bringeth desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel(Daniel 12:11) and Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:3, 13-16) In the Bible, is one of the end time signs that has brought contention among end time believers.

But what does the abomination of desolation refer to?

Some people speculate, that the Antichrist will proclaim himself as G-d, and demand worship in the temple of Jerusalem. But currently there is no temple. Could the Abomination that bringeth desolation be a spiritual thing or something else.

Remember Jesus spoke about destroying the temple and rebuilding it in three days, People didn't understand that he referred to the temple of the body and not the physical temple. which as we know was destroyed on the cross and resurrected in three days.

What I'm driving at is that the Abomination might be an unG-dly thing, entering the temple of the G-d(which is the human body) and making it Abominable and unG-dly.

1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

I am not trying to win any argument.

Thanks bro, I’m not arguing either.

It’s important we understand the scriptures to know when temple is used in a spiritual/body context or physical/building context.

If you read Daniel 9 v 27 which Jesus made reference to in Matthew 24, it’s clearly a building, not your body.

If the temple Jesus was referring to in Matthew 24 was Spiritual, why did he advice those in Judea to flee to the mountains?

Matthew 24 v 15-20;

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house.
18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.
19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!
20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

@OP. I understand it is your opinion. And, you have a point of our Body being the Temple. BUT, the endtimes temple has to be a physical one. It matters that you study and be sure of it because THIS issue may be a case of life and death in the near future.

Carefully read below passages. *Pay attention to Revelation 11:1-2: you can only measure a physical building that is to be trampled for 42 months, and exclude outter court given to Gentiles. It makes no sense if it's only a spiritual building for how can you measure, trample for 42 months or exclude outter (physical body) for Gentiles to trample. Does that make sense to you?

Revelation 11:1-2 I (John) was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, (by the mighty angel from Revelation Chapter 10) Go and measure (John’s act of measuring signifies God’s ownership as he surveys the temple area - but only the temple proper) the temple of God (Greek = hieron, the complete temple building) and the altar, (Greek = naos, the holy of holies, where the ark of the covenant resides) and count the worshipers there (the people who are worshipping in this temple). (The temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt during the End Times. Here, the mighty angel from Ch. 10 is instructing John to literally measure the dimensions of the rebuilt temple. One measures when they are ready to build something.)

2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. (The "outer court" is the court of the Gentiles and is probably a reference to the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa mosques, which are holy sites for Muslims. Note that it is the proximity of Islamic holy sites to the temple grounds that has for so long kept the temple from being rebuilt) They (the Gentiles, and more specifically, the followers of Antichrist) will trample on the holy city (of Jerusalem) for 42 months. During the second half of Daniel's 70th Week, which lasts 3 1/2 years, or 42 months, the followers of Antichrist will abuse and dishonor the holy city of Jerusalem by allowing worship of false gods upon the very holy site God calls His house. Specifically, once the Abomination of Desolation occurs, the rebuilt temple will become a site of idol worship for Gentiles.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (Antichrist) is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up (takes his seat) in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God (greater than the God of Israel).

Daniel 8:11-12

11 It (Antichrist) set itself up (magnified itself) to be as great as (equal to, or greater than) the Prince (the Commander, Jesus) of the host; it took away (removed) the daily sacrifice from him (, and the place of his sanctuary was brought low.

12 Because of rebellion, the host [of the saints, God's people] and the daily sacrifice were given over to it (Antichrist). It (Antichrist) prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.

Daniel 8 is the prophecy Paul was referring to in 2 Thess 2. In Daniel 8, the prophet Daniel set forth a dual prophecy of desolation in the temple. The first (near) prophecy was fulfilled by a Gentile ruler named Antiochus Epiphanies, a cruel Syrian king who in 168 B.C. plundered Jerusalem and murdered hundreds of Jews. Antiochus Epiphanies desecrated the temple by offering a pig – a dirty animal - upon the altar. Antiochus Epiphanies also had an image of himself placed in the holy of holies. The second (far) will be fulfilled by the Antichrist when he sets himself up as God, and removes the daily sacrifice in the rebuilt temple (the Abomination of Desolation).

Daniel 8:25

25 He (Antichrist) will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior (to the God of the temple). When they (the people of Israel) feel secure (there will be a false sense of security due to the Covenant of Death), he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes (Jesus). Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.

Daniel 9:27

27 He (Antichrist) will confirm (make firm) a covenant (of death) with many (Jews) and for one 'seven.' (A 7-year period) In the middle of the 'seven' (the 7-year period) he (Antichrist) will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him".

Daniel 11:31

31 "His (Antichrist) armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation.

Matthew 24:15

15 "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand--

Not in any way trying to hold brief for the OP, whose entire writeup I skipped, why must it be a building standing in the holy place? undecided

A building does not appear overnight. undecided

Absolutely, it doesn’t.

Would take some time to rebuild the Jewish temple destroyed in 70AD.

Turns out the end-times Temple was the physical temple that was destroyed over 1900 years ago. The first time it was destroyed and had to be rebuilt was when God started His final judgment against the Nation of Israel(and Judah). The campaign began with the exiling of those of the Nation of Isreal. Then approximately 600 or so years after that, the second and final days or last days of the Judgment began and ended with the destruction of Jerusalem during the 1 century AD bringing to a close all that God said would take place in Daniel 9 vs 24 - 27. undecided

The next time that temple will be rebuilt it will be in God's Holy Jerusalem, at the time of the resurrection of the Nation of Israel. undecided
