The Nigerian Airforce just like any other Airforce around the world is tasked with protection of the territorial integrity of it's nation airspace. The Nigerian Airforce is the most sophisticated Airforce in the entire West African sub-region having participated in countless wars, missions and campaigns.
It's equipped with fighter aircrafts, Helicopter gunships, Attack aircrafts and other aircraft types.

Note: This list would include some retired airframes

The Nigerian Airforce F-7Ni Airguard are the FASTEST aircraft in the Nigerian Airforce with a speed of 2200km/hr. They are the airdefence interceptors. The planes are responsible for keeping the Nigerian airspace in check against intruders. It's a Chinese built aircraft, a Chinese version of the Mig 21. 15 aircrafts were purchased. Over the years few crashed, the recent being the mid air collision in Abuja few days to 1st October 2018.
They are mainly based at the Kwevev airbase, Makurdi, Benue state.

Hopefully it's well maintained and doesn't run ouf of fuel midair !

Let's not deceive ourselves. Nigeria will never get better, the country is getting more messed up everyday. There's corruption in every sector of the country. No need forming being patriotic, we all know what's popping here.

Nigeria is the only country in the world where corrupt politicians are regarded as gods.

Yep, I just checked... You are right, they don't sell the A10 warthog to anyone. That sh!t would have been a serious game changer against Boko Haram.

BUhari has raised the stake in our Air forces.. let those coming behind do more.. I beg we must be careful with those who will collect money from our reserve account to buy military hardware's and will not do so or perhaps be buying refurbished equipments. Nigerians must shine their eyes and use their brains to vote well

The Egyptian military Budget is crazy.

Their military is interwoven with the govt and so defence spending there is crazy.

Punching far above their economic class.

The problem with Nigeria is lack of ambition.
The leaders are not ambitious nor forward thinking.

It is..
OBJ bought 12 F-7 jet from China, GEJ bought 5 fairly used Alpha jets from the US

Liars!

Let me even assume you are speaking the truth. OBJ bought 12 while GEJ bought 5 makes it a total of 17 in their 16 rotten years of leadership

Compare that to Buhari within his 8yrs

Since Buhari assumed office in 2015, the Nigerian military has taken delivery of a total of thirty-two (32) brand new aircraft, with the latest being the 6 X A-29 Super Tucanos – the first batch of a total of 12 – that arrived on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Among aircraft the Buhari-led administration has acquired since assuming office include:

– 10 x Super Mushshak aircraft

– 5 x Mi-35M Helicopter Gunships

– 2 x Bell 412 Helicopters

– 4 x Agusta 109 Power Attack Helicopter

– 2 x Mi-171E Helicopter

– 6 x A-29 Super Tucano

– 3 x JF-17 Thunder Fighter Aircraft – delivered and Inducted in May 2021.

There are also 3 x Special Missions Aircraft from NIMASA – a part of the Deep Blue Project – that have been delivered. They belong to NIMASA but will be operated by the NAF.

Armed Drones (UCAVs) have also being ordered and are being delivered; there are at least 8 of these – including Wingloong II, CH-3 and CH-4.

There are also the M-346fa attack aircrafts which 24 of them were recently ordered and paid for.

So if you add the 24 to the existing 39 he acquired that makes 63.

Which is greater PDPs 17 military aircraft in 16yrs or APCs 63 military aircraft in 8yrs?

Do you now see how PDP is beyond a failure of a party?

Check my quotes and see how I equally despise that party...but am not going to be cynical...

Am not gonna argue about a fact u can easily Google..
Let me also add this disclaimer.

The 10 super mushak were paid for during GRJ times...but got delivered in 2015...just few months after Bubu assumed office..

The 2 bell 412 choppers were never bought by Bubu...
They belonged to rivers state government... Were illegally imported..den Customs confiscated them and Bubu transferred them to the air force...

Every other aircraft....well sure I will praise bubu for that

Which Air Support? You forgot to mention the incompetence of the quota-system pilots flying these gunships.

Go and check the inventory of the Algerian and Egyptian Air Force and see what serious Countries operate in their Air Force.

May God help all of you to prevent any serious war, external aggression & invasion against Nigeria; the woes of Ukraine will be a child’s play in comparison to what will roast & incinerate all of you.

You’re not even ashamed of yourself.

Mentioning Augusta AW-109 that farmers are using for aerial application of pesticides & fertilizer on their farmlands in Europe.
The quota system has led to the present onslaught on the military...incompetence are exposed easily on the battle field. The quota system has a special way of exposing and punishing incompetence. Let them continue with the quota system and have more tears in the barracks. Northerners are honestly destroying themselves as as long as quota system is sacrificed for qualification.

STFU!

For once, be happy for your country. Stop comparing naija with those middle east counties you mentioned. Yes, we still have a long way to go, but it is not every time you belittle your country.

So Algeria and Egypt are Middle Eastern Countries? If you have studied the map and the Countries in Afrika, you wouldn’t have come out here to disgrace your family tree.

This is the reason I stopped engaging & arguing with dolts on here because secondary school kids have hijacked & taken over Nairaland.
