I am not an expert but in simple terms, a hybrid vehicle is one that uses two or more distinct types of power. They have special batteries (more expensive than normal batteries). Hybrid cars can use this battery for sometime while driving but when the power of the battery dissipates, the car will automatically switch to the fuel( e.g petrol). The battery will be charged again after the trip ends. So, hybrid carsl have extremely good fuel efficiency and they are generally more expensive than normal cars

To answer your second question, some of the hybrid cars will have 'hybrid' written at the back of the cars e.g, Toyota Prius. One way or the other, there will be some inscription or logo on the body of the car indicating that this is an hybrid car.

There are very few mechanics that can handle hybrid cars in Nigeria right now.

I have found my stolen car, alongside the thief. The guy was caught around General Paint (Just after Ajah and Abraham Adesanya) where I believe he had intended to sell it off to those that butcher cars.
I really want to thank and appreciate everyone and this forum for helping me put out word and for the kind gesture I've received from a lot of you.

Lol, it actually can if you can find it. I won't lie, we've recovered a few vehicles and bikes with the help of the tracking device, and some bikes were lost, cos the tracker was removed. With the tracker, you have a higher chance of recovering your car. It's better than nothing.

The word "Hybrid" means a blend of 2 systems,, a hybrid vehicle uses 2 different systems, mechanical and electrical , so it can be powered either with fuel or the electrical system after it has been fully charged.
Features- It looks like the normal particular car brand (A hybrid Toyota Corolla looks like the normal Corolla of same model), the difference is that when it switches to electric , it's engine becomes very silent to the extent it can drive and hit you from behind yet you wouldn't hear it coming.
Why it is bad market for thieves-- It's not common in these parts , not everyone can deal with the problems that comes with the electrical system so it's mostly avoided for the normal brands .
The reason why Toyota Corolla and Camry are mostly targeted by car thieves is because their engines are used to power boats in the creeks and riverine areas,they are powered by fuel , A hybrid engine cannot be used for that purpose because the boats lack the internal systems to match the electrical set up of its engine.
So it's mostly bad market cos no Car part seller will want to buy a hybrid vehicle , butcher it and keep the engine for months or years before he finds a buyer ,Then Car sellers will also likely reject it because of the risks involved trying to sell a complete car which can be tracked .

So the bottom line is he will be like one who stole the community drum, he can't beat it and produce music because he will be caught in no time

The thief should be publicised along with the carry!

Report incidences of robberies and criminality, spread out the word via social media, police formations etc... Nigeria security have tracking devices take advantage of it...and the more crimes are reported, the more it helps police channel their resources appropriately to fight crime.

A hybrid car is a car that uses both electric motor and gasoline engine to power it self. Both systems relay or switch function during driving...d electric motor starts working when when d fuel is exausted in d gas engine same as how d gas engine will start working when electricity is exhausted in d electric motor chamber. D electric motor gets itself charged during braking or deceleration.

So d whole idea of hybrid is to economize fuel consumption. So a car thief that steals a hybrid may not know what how to handle the d system when d car breaks down.cos he may not HV d idea that he steals a hybrid car.
