Federal Government's policy through the "NBC code" then helped alot in shaping the Nigerian Music industry's growth during the Obj era.

Our TV and radio stations played mostly foreign songs in the late 90's and early 2000's until they had to adhere to NBC's music broadcast code of playing only four Naija songs out of the five they played. Later, there was outright ban of foreign musicals airing during the day.

Artistes like Tony Tetuila, Plantation Boiz, Paul Play, The Remedies, Style Plus and a host of others gained prominence out of it, till it metamorphosed to what we have today.

Funny enough, Naija music is on a slow but steady downward trend now. It will be very obvious within the next decade.
I do not agree with you on the bolded.

Before psquare broke up, were they Yoruba.

Osuofias, Ini Edos, Mercy Johnsons, Yul Edochies, Monalisa Chindas, Frankie Leonards, e.t.c of Nollywood, are they Yorubas

Mercy Chinwos, Sammy Okposos, Sinach, Frank Edwards, Tim Godfreys of the Nigerian gospel scene, are they Yoruba.

Chimamanda Adichie, a celebrity author and a world renowned speaker and activist, is she Yoruba?

Emoneys, Cubanas, Hushpuppis who are well known in the Nigerian lifestyle sphere, are they Yorubas?

Sorry I have just been informed Hushpuppi is Yoruba, serving his time in a US jail

My people don't usually go to Saudi Arabia. They must have slaughtered your people.

That reminds me of the terrorism your people brought to the streets of London a few years ago

we entered new era from wizkid
it was from tuface that Nigerians started demanding for local artistes during shows, before then, we will always invite American artistes like 50cent,r Kelly, etc.
Wizkid ushered an era that announced that young bloods are also allowed.
Our breakthrough is 10 years older than wizkid

Burna boy grew up in port harcourt.
His upbringing has little to do with yoruba.

If every non-yoruba leaves lagos today, it would cease to be relevant in the scheme of things.

Burna is half yoruba, so shut up. Did yorubas force the non yorubas to live in lagos? Abuja is your capital, how come artist aren't making it in abuja. Entertainment is the way of life to yorubas and we are all addicted to music. Go to abuja your capital

Yes correct... Raypower&AIT paved way for what we are enjoying till today by being the first platform where we can watch and listen to good afrobeat (1st of a kind 24hours Radio and TV station in the whole Nigeria). And with help of the entertainment meastro duo of Keke and D1, 9ja music started gaining global attention with their yearly kennis music jam show (platform that brought most of our New generation music icons like; Azadus,Paul play IK Dairo,Jazzman Olofin, Plantashunboiz, Eedris AbdulKareem,Tetuila, Durella, Ruggedman,Sounsultan/BabaDee,Marvelious Benjy, Tolu & Olu maintain, African China, Saucekid etc. I don't ever missed Kennis Music Show with their exclusive trip to Staples Center in Los Angeles for Grammy Award every year. Infact, Raypower/AIT and Kennis music / Dayo D1 Adeneye really are the forerunner or Pathfinder of whatever recognition our music/entertainment is getting all over the world today! Their names needed to be enlisted in 9ja's Hall Of Fame Forever.

Because of all the untalented Yoruba artistes clouding the Afrobeats music industry. Probably because Afrobeat is kinda headquartered in Lagos, and all the untalented Yoruba established musicians just keep bringing in more untalented Yoruba artistes, and the untalented Yoruba artistes bring in more untalented Yoruba artistes. The untalented Yoruba artistes will kill Afrobeats. As you said just give it a decade.

If other artistes from other regions are wise, they will branch off and give their music another name before the death of Afrobeats by all these untalented Yoruba artistes.
shut up ur mouth which of the artiste is untalented?

Don't forget Ruggedman. His philosophy that our music would be more acceptable if our artistes sang in pidgin or mother tongue.Back then in the late 90s and early 2000s, Nigerian hip-hop/rap artistes sang with American accents. That was one of his beef with Eedris, apart from the fact that his lyrics were totally wack.
