The fact is that the government does not care about us and it won't make sense to just sit without doing anything to settle this issue that's been in existence for long.

I'm of the opinion that Nigerians should contribute towards meeting ASUU's demands .

At least 5,000,000 or more Nigerians can afford to give #2,000 as at the time I'm typing this and a total of which would give us #10,000,000,000 (10 billion Naira)

At least this would go some extent .

I believe that if an initiative like this is started, some people can even give millions , and we may realise what's more than the 10billion I'm talking about

What do you think?

I'm talking about 5 million people donating #2,000

Imagine how much people are spending on data alone, not to talk about other irrelevant things

We can do it , even more

modified just saw where I made the typing error in my post, though the pic still shows the actual figure

Lol

But this is really achievable if only the necessary steps is taken to start it.

If people can pay over #30k as School fees only for strike to frustrate them, then they can pay what's even more than that to do away with the strike

Alot of Nigerians will be willing to contribute and that can be done..even my grandma in the village will even contribute since its education and our youths, but the question will be;

Who will handle the funds received?
Won't the fund's be mismanaged?
Won't the FG and ASUU start dragging who should hold, manage and disburse the funds?
Won't there be fighting among the various tertiary institutions over the funds sharing formulas?

Abeg matter plenty for this country

If something like that gets started, even me I can give like #5k aspa student level

I don't think the funds would be mismanaged

Yea...I think this is a very good way to ending the incessant strike on innocent students, I saw something like this on twitter. Perhaps if it starts trending, a lot of people will be interested & willing to contributing even more than 2K...!! But the only issue is who will manage the funds...

Managing the funds would be settled if the idea is brought up

Even if it means giving a reliable country like USA to manage and ensure the money is properly utilised

Hope that was not too dumb an idea though

If like 10 million people give #10k self , that's 100 billion

Hmm

No matter what, the effect of ASUU Strike would definitely affect you either directly or indirectly

ASUU Strike makes students lose interest in school and become Yahoo boys, prostitutes , bandits , bokoharam , skull miners , etc

That's nonsense. The government must be held accountable. You cannot let them off the hook like that. They will continue stealing money meant for the educational sector while we average Nigerians will be doing their job? Why did we vote them in the first place?

Whether they like it or not, they must produce that money.

They won't change, only God can change them and we know they're all not God-fearing men and women.

Shall we continue in strikes that ignorance may abound?

This will never solve the problem. What most of us don't understand is that educational problem in Nigeria is primarily an institutional one. The financial aspect of it is secondary. Our educational system lacks basic structure.

10 billion naira? Even 20 will not solve the problem. Do you know how much ASUU's EAA alone is? Then to talk of funding the universities, do you know how much each university expends to function yearly?

Let us not even start what we cannot finish. A one-time donation does not resolve the matter and I'm sure no Nigerian is ready to start playing government. After taxes upon taxes, so citizens will still be the one to fulfil government's responsibilities? Nah!

Splendid analysis....
And also...
If this happens, I bet you that the FG would also be complacent about other sectors because they know that even if those sectors strike, Nigerians would also do the same thing undecided...

So no....
This is a very bad idea OP....
