If you are sure that you were diagnosed with herpes, then it's sth to worry about.
A picture of the lesion you are describing would have gone a long way in explaining things to me.
However, judging from your own recount, first of all, herpes has a particular place they appear, it's either the genitals or somewhere around the mouth. So I am of the opinion that you might be having sth we call shingles, which is a reactivated chickenpox.

Please kindly check out the picture of shingle over the internet and get back to me if they match the description you're seeking.

@kenkesh, I know Herpes isn't as deadly as people make it seem, if I take my meds, I can not transmit it so I'm not even bothered really. Also, I am very sure it is herpes cos I do have genital lessons on the cap of my penis, burning sensation around my laps before the breakout, so before the test, I even told the doctor that I would like to do the test after I realized she might quite new in that virus field.

Tentatively speaking, the pain you have is called HERPETIC NEURALGIA. Unfortunately, it is difficult to treat. The first line medication for it is Gabapentin (not Carbamezepine, which is for trigeminal neuralgia). Remember that every drug has its side effect, including Gabapentin.

As for the rash, it is is called herpes zoster. If you are having recurrent attacks, it might be because you are immunocompromised. Get HIV testing.
