Germany will buy US-made F-35 fighter jets as it ramps up military spending after Russia's Ukraine invasion


(CNN)Germany has announced that it will buy 35 US-made F-35A fighter jets, the first major arms purchase to be publicly confirmed since Chancellor Olaf Scholz committed to ramping up his country's defense spending in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The German government has made these decisions alongside a choice to become more active in European defenses. Scholz has also taken dramatic steps to limit Germany's economic ties to Russia, including halting the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The F-35s will replace Germany's aging fleet of Tornados, the only planes in the Luftwaffe's inventory capable of carrying US nuclear bombs that are stored in the country in case of war breaking out in Europe.
The decision to buy F-35s is significant as it will make Germany's air force more compatible with the rest of NATO and other European defense partners who either operate or intend to purchase F-35s.
The US Defense Department said earlier this year that US Air Force F-35As in Europe would be certified to deploy the nuclear bombs before 2023.
The F-35 comes in three versions, A, B and C, with just the F-35A being outfitted with nuclear capabilities.

Well good. In air to air combat Russia can't stand a chance with NATO. The Israelis made this pretty clear during the war of attrition where USSR airforce in Egypt repeatedly attacked Israel.

When the Israelis got pissed, they squared of with USSR directly in air to air combat. If I'm not mistakened the Israelis shot down about 20 USSR jets using their American made jets while USSR could only down 2 Israeli jets.

So it's clear the West has a higher command for air power.

This is where the West gets it wrong. A war with Russia will quickly devolve into a nuclear war because Russia cannot afford a conventional war with 30 countries. Meaning the moment Russia feels it is losing a war, it has a possiblilty of going nuclear depending on how crazy their president would be.

Therefore the focus for most of these western countries should be to work on nuclear detterence. SAM platforms that can intercept icbm still in their space trajectory of their flight.

The Israelis know this is the real threat and they've made progress with Arrow3. West should be doing same.

f-35 substandard ,they suppose use your head as wetin them they use piss, make I school you small, f-35,has a kill ratio of 20 to 1, meaning for every f-35 downed,20 enemy jets will follow,the f-35, can spot a jet even the jet gets any where near it , you won't no hat hit you, Israel has successfully used it to evade radars in Syria against Russia defense system , Russia had to caution Israel. I can go on and on but .....

Germans need to get up from lost of world war II and crush this Russians with the world backing. We need German war machines. If only Adolf Hitler didn't focus on West . That's exactly what will happen, guilt and trying to integrate themselves to the world made Germany stand down their arms after ww2, with this Russia aggression and Europe needing a leader, Germany will rearm themselves, their public are voting for more military funding

They should into their German machines military research . I don't trust USA weapons against this Russia 100%. German is only country that can put Russia to her place if not mistakes of Hitler

Because Ukraine has not purchased it, you expect US to give them for free?, something that cost up to 75 million per plane, sometimes make una they do research,no talk out of ignorance,even if Ukraine has the money to buy it, Russia won't allow it,and the US might be scared for it to end up in Russia hands cause they'll steal the technology,think!
