Yes she was within her legal rights but good sense would have you inform someone who is paying for something when a decision to be made about that thing. I suspect she knew they would kick against her decision that is why she didn't inform them.
Ofcourse she did know they would kick against it. However, i would like to think here that what she did was carry out was the man's choice and will in this. undecided

The woman was married to the man at the time of his death, so there is technically nothing wrong with what she did. undecided

Being in charge of the bills does not give one legal guardianship so the in-laws are wrong in assuming they should have been consulted on the matter. So the in-laws should probably work on accepting their loss and moving on from this. undecided

Simple question is there such a law in Nigeria ? Yes or No. If Yes tell us. I wan to read the law myself that is why I asked? So if you don't know say so . I don't either but do not pretend to know what you don't know

I love your passion....... I have posted enough materials... ...

YES, POA exists in Nigeria..... If you want one done, head to any law chambers to get it done...... Certain requirements must be satisfied........

Actually I do not have an opinion on what the woman did and do not believe I expressed one. So where does "antagonizing" come into it? Are you OK?

Eee I get headache you get the drug ?? See how caring you are asking as if you wan help. Loooolz.

the doctor is not at fault really.

Ethical/moral indications (such as the examples just described) would seem to consider a patient’s dissent an insurmountable obstacle, in clinical practice and in emergency situations where the patient is unconscious, the prevailing interpretation is that intervention (in the case in point, a blood transfusion) is not only legitimate but right and proper.

The doctor is also at fault!

You know why the law is blind? Because it doesn't see things from th3 emotional perspective. In law, the wife makes the final decision whether the husband is Buhari's son. That said, I don't support this JW nonsense.
True. At times the law is too strict to be applied in normal regular everyday situations.

Concerning the JW nonsense as you call it, I don't think one can judge them too much as everyone has the right to believe whatever they choose to. My only suggestion is that they should look for their fellow JW doctors and hospitals to take care of them when the chips are down than creating headaches for other people.

However, i subscribe to the notion the family should have been consulted_ even if she'll be heady and still go with their faith...
She was really careless

You are still not within our context of the convo. No law in Nigeria places anyone above others in case of healthcare responsibilities. People only honor the tradition of marriage. If you don’t believe what I am saying consult a barrister. It is as simple as that. And here; I am not ceding my point on a party. I mentioned spouse- so it could be a wife or the husband.

Well, I put them all under the same flag. Unde marriage, a man becomes his wife's guardian and vice versa. In this case, the doctors understood this and had his wife sign the documents as his legal guardian. undecided
You are making a lot of assumptions.
The concept of "guardian" or "guardianship" does not apply to an adult unless they have Enduring Mental Incapacity
Even at that There is specific "guardianship" legislation e.g. in the UK > Do we have guardianship legislation in Nigeria?
That man and wife automatically become each others' guardians is based on what ? Legislation or you like the sound of it? Does that apply to all countries and those with several wives?

Did you read where I said no law gives superiority to any party in case of healthcare attendance? And I said some medical facilities and not all, gives recognitions to spouse more. While some will base their liabilities on whoever that brought in the sick person.
I don't follow! undecided

Why would the law need to accord superiority in the case of healthcare attendance when that is instead established outside of that, in this case, at the point where the man married this woman. undecided

Medical facilities should have no right to make decisions on behalf of patients. Consent is necessary in all cases to avoid malpractice suits. undecided

Jehovah's Witnesses make a personal decision on blood transfusion. The woman is completely excused from that decision because the man signed a durable power of attorney. That supersedes any decision to be made by anyone.

We should learn to have principles in life because if you don't stand for something you'll fall for everything.
You mean all Jehovah's witnesses sign these? undecided

Over finances, medical and health decisions etc etc ......

It's like handing over your life decisions, to another trusted person. ........

You can say this because you are not related to the woman. She is the only one who can tell what she is passing through and what she will pass through.
These things happen across the world daily with the JWs. Some even refuse blood transfusions for their own children. So stop trying desperately to make this about my person. undecided

This wasn't always the case. People were excommunicated in the past for taking blood transfusions. In time they modified it to a conscientious decision with strong leaning to saying no to transfusions. Wouldn't be the first time.
Akinpresident:
No JW is compelled not to take blood. I know them very well. It's a personal decision of each JW based on their conscience. Even if someone goes ahead and take a transfusion, it doesn't mean they're no longer JW. It's an individual thing.

In that case the man failed to protect his wife. He should have left explicit instructions so there would be no ambiguity.

This is Nigeria and the woman will be found liable unless she can lawyer up.

Even then. It is more likely to be a case of who can settle the police more.

In Europe/western world she is going jail for making decision that killed her husband when he could easily have survived..
However the doctors won't even ask her permission to give blood transfusions after surgery.

No talk about places you know nothing of..
No I talk about what I know of and where I have lived probably before you were born

Stop talking Nonsense

There are different laws across Europe . Even in the UK the law in England is different from Scotland

The legal issues here are
Mental Incapacity
Advanced Decision Making
Power of Attorney

You talked about "murder". That statement alone marks you out as borderline illiterate and not worth the effort.

Doctors make decisions about healthcare where the patient lacks capacity using "best interest" doctrines. In controversial cases they can approach , in England, The Court of Protection, a specialist Court in the UK .

There is Case law specific to Jehovah witnesses and blood transfusion from the Court of Protection so these are not uncharted waters.

Take your own advice

When you don't know just FEM!!!
