But this is basic stuff in Electronics and electrical labs. Why don't nigerians try to do new things? Why only copy the west? Don't we have enough brain power for new inventions?

Alusiizizi:

Also your diodes do have units, their reverse voltage must be more than 240V so that they can effectively block one half of that AC source in that full-wave rectifier on your board.

Interpret in English comrade grin

nice one but on your next model try to make it look smaller, probably pocket size.
Then come to Aba to mass-produce it, no time. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

I hope it will be pocket friendly too.

Your design is amazing.
But consider using smaller transformer next time for the sake of high current. Big transformer means small current, yes it gives 5v volt but how about the current? This might take longer to charge than normal chargers because of the size of the transformer. Your phone draws more current.

So yes, you did well ...

Very good, but next time look into switch mode power supply, because linear power supply circuits are outdated, though useful in some applications,

Can it be cheaper than the ones in the market?

With this FG is supposed to ban the importation of all mobile phone chargers
And we'd be buying a special carriage bag for our charger.

O boy lie down, make I design your back

I would have been more impressed if it was a solar powered charger... Especially with the collapsed power grid. Its a great first project though. More power to you.

One funny thing about this charger is that it hardly burn unlike the ones you buy in the market. You can use it till you are tired
This sound motivating, just create another thread once you put it on sales, Am sure many of us here will love to patronize...

Components used for this project includes
.
1) 240v (9-0-9) transformer
2) 4 Diodes (no unit)
3) 1k/25v capacitor
4) 7805 transistor (regulator)
5) 0.1/25v capacitor
6) light emitting diodes (led)
7) USB port
cool a connection board
.
I first of all connected my four diodes in series, then my 1k/25v capacitor followed by transistor, 0.1/25v capacitor, light emitting diodes, USB port then my 240v transformer on the connection board, I read it with my meter and it gave me exactly 5v.
You can watch the video below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsBzQxNc0ng
.
How do rate this my small project?
well done comrade, reminds me of my first year EE @ federal poly nekede. I was completely obsessed with it; 555 timer, shadow detectors, electric buzzer and what have you, all on a breadboard, it was real fun, keep it up

Necessity is the mother of invention and innovation.

The first computer was as big as a room.

As long as we continue to be comfortable with imports, we can never invent nor innovate
