University of Wolverhampton is one of my top choices and I already have a conditional offer from them and waiting for an unconditional as I have fulfilled all the conditions but this your situation is giving me a rethink as I feel the school didn’t treat you or the issue fairly. Good morning everyone. Pls I’m new here and I do not really know how to navigate on nairaland. Pls help push to the appropriate section.

I and my family ( myself my wife and our 10 month old daughter ) applied for a student visa which myself and my daughter are dependent. We all started the application together but when we’re to pay for health surcharge and visa fee, my passport wasn’t ready so my wife alone proceeded and we delayed my daughter’s. My self and my daughter later had out appointments at the TLS a month after and a day after our appointment, my wife’s visa came out and she left Nigeria on the 13th of February due of the school deadline date . The problem now is that my daughter whom we did biometric together on the 8th of February already received a mail and I have picked up her passport since 24th of February. Up till now my passport isn’t out nor any message received. I was at the TLS on the 24th of February the day I picked up my daughter’s passport and present my slip but was told mine isn’t ready, went back two weeks after and I got same reply. My status on the tracker is saying decision has been made but it’s showing it hasn’t gone back to VAC. . I sent them a paid mail on the 3rd of March and I was told to wait for 10 working days that a decision has been made but they wouldn’t disclose it . I sent them another mail 5days after to know the update and I was told to send all my details. Later I got another mail telling me to wait till another 15 working days that the issue has been escalated and I shouldn’t send any more mails till the 15 working days elapse.

Is there anyone here who is experiencing same and what steps have you taking pls ?

It is like that in most places right now. My advice to you if you're alone:

Try to get a shared apartment, either on spare room, sending messages on your student WhatsApp groups, school accommodation or word of mouth. Tell everyone you meet about your situation. You just need like two months while you work and get payslips that will help you get your own accommodation

If money isn't an issue, Then try open rent and zoopla, you talk to landlords directly most times and can plead your case. Always offer to pay months in advance and to get a reference from previous landlords in Nigeria if applicable. And a guarantor helps too

And DHL wanted to be unfortunate, since Monday, tracker said package en route to customer address, only for me to call late evening yest and they said it's still with them. I just told them not to bother, I will pick it up myself at NAHCO, Airport.
We submitted all normal documents, POF, CAS, FAMILY PICS (6nos), wedding certificate, CV, WORK REF, OFFER LETTER, BSC CERT, O LEVEL Certificate, school ref, and many more.

My tuition fees is 12,225 pounds and the condition is to pay 50% of the tuition fees, which I have done. My POF is 22k dollars and has matured. My agent is just telling me yesterday that the POF is not enough that I should either add 1800 to the my pof or pay an additional 1600k pounds for tuition.

Pls take note that I'm going for April batch and the University has sent me a mail that the last date to issue cas is on 18th of Match.

Pls what should I do? It took more than a month to process form A. She is suggesting I ask someone inthe UK to pay for me, which is not possible because I don't have anybody there. If she had informed me on time I would have added 1800 dollars to my account.

I applied to salfors since February 11th too
Sent them a mail on Tuesday, they told me my application is still in review process.
The fee is 15300 and deposit is 5500
You might qualify for a tuition reduction of 3000-5000

With your 20 hr / week work, (£9 to £12/ hr min wage) if you are lucky you can get higher than £12 but rare. Do the math for a month.
Can it pay your tuition balance?
Can it even feed and maintain you adequately?

Now to your side hustle, you need something to survive on till you are well known with it

Who would your customers be - the British people or fellow students? If British people, you already contravening the 20 hr rule and You need tools to work with and also set up shop


The key to surviving with your side hustles is having someone on ground in the UK who would stand n cover up for you.

I have someone, who works dispatch 10 -12 hours a day (rush hour usually @ night). He got loaned fund to buy the dispatch vehicle (he already paid back) . Because he works directly under this person (who has been in d hustle a long time) 0 hr counted for him yet he does more than 3 x
