i fell in love with this lhasa apso dog and i am thinking of getting it my problem now is that i have a very territorial boerboel and i am worried about how it would react(it is always caged but released at night).

Put them on chains for a while. They should be seeing themselves. After a while, release the old one until it gets comfortable with the new one.

Okay,what if I take the small one to meet the big one in it's cage every morning,I don't have chains for the big one..

Just talk to the big one that you will be getting a younger one..

You have already mentioned that your BB is territorial hopefully not fiercely territorial. You there fore should not intro another canine into its territory unannounced. Secondly I do not know how socialised its been while growing up and not how good the dog is with other dogs or animals. So it has to be baby steps all along the way.

1. Let both dogs meet for the first time in a neutral territory. Outside your compound. This first meeting should not have the new dog in direct face contact with old one.
2. Allow the old one while being held to sniff new one and investigate. Watch out for tension easing and calm. Do not proceed to step 3 until calm is restored.
3. Walk both dogs for a while and head home. Allow older dog to go in first. Then wait for signal that the older dog wants the new one to come inside. This may be by the happy wagging of the tail of "hello new friend...come inside"
4. Keep new dog in enclosure that old dog can always come to and check. Allow both to have supervised access to each other until they are fully calm and even playing when they do.


Finally, this needs patience and calmness/ firmness on your part as your tension is transfered to them ad well.

this is how I introduce pets to my boerboel. I put her on chain, then I take the other one to her. She sniff it over and over like seven to ten times, then she sits again. I take her out of the chain and let the other one go too.

Them never bring the dog,still with the mama,but I have been pleading with my dog not to swallow it oooo....lol
