Lyydia: Fixed deposit in Nigeria is a waste of time if you really understand money. Why? The amount of interest may sound high but it is high for a reason…..inflation in Nigeria is high. If you take a course in finance, one of the 1st things you will learn is that you have to look at your returns relative to inflation. So if you have a return of 15% but inflation of 20%, you are actually losing wealth even though on paper you have more “money”. Before you invest you need to understand some concepts like inflation, relative return, and the difference between wealth and money! The fact that you have more money than you started with does not mean you are wealthier!!!! 1 billion Naira may sound like a lot but it does not make you a rich man because it cannot buy much in Nigeria!!!! You buy a decent land in ikoyi as a “rich man” and you will find you will struggle to build a decent house with what is left, then you will know billion in Naira is nothing!! Let’s say a piece of land costs 10m and a car costs 10m but you decide to put 10m in the bank and get 30% pa interest. If after a year you collect your 13m and are feeling richer until you realize that car is now 15m and the land is 16m, you’ve actually damaged your wealth by putting your money in fixed deposit despite on paper having more money. A good investment you should be able to buy more that what you could before you invested. Long and short if you put your money in a fixed deposit, when you get your money back with your big interest can you buy the same items you could buy before your investment? if not you have actually lost wealth and you are poorer despite having more “money”. So a good investment is either one that protects your wealth or increases your wealth. That is the question you need to answer. You investment needs to at the very least protect you from inflation but also grow your wealth. I hope that helps! 48 Likes 9 Shares |

Real estate! Land appreciates rapidly so you just buy, hold for some time, and sell. A piece of land that we bought for our client near Papa (Lafarge Cement area) for N350,000 in 2015 is now worth N2m. There are still agric land of N600,000 per acre at Wasimi. An American comedian once said, 'buy land, they ain't making any more of it.' 1 Like |

Lyydia: Best thing is to turn it to hard currency(£$€)or USDT which is a crypto stable coin you can easily convert it back and best inflation on Ur naira. Naira will soon be exchanged for 600/$ it's just a matter of time. I come in peace. Ibkfx 1 Like |

You said no cryptocurrency so I have no advice for you. Ave been staking some crypto and making decent APY on a regular, almost 200k a month guaranteed for doing nothing. It’s funny how you people think crypto is a scam but in reality crypto has grown past the average mind. Educate yourself! 2 Likes |

Lyydia:First, you did the right thing by posting NO to all the stuff above. My Recommendations: 1. Read everything on this thread. Do not skip any post. You may find someone with a good suggestion. I am doing same too. It may be on page 12 sef. And the fellow may not mention you. Take your time. 2. The only safe investment is nations' TBills. That of the US is considered the safest. But it may be hard for a Nigerian to do. You may check well and see if you can. Also, look into other nations' TBills. Our reputation is bad, so, I'm not sure about this option. 3. Nigeria used to make its TBill open to the public. I think the corrupt nature of Nigerians is too high. Imagine, banks take your money and invest in the same TBill vehicle, and then give you part of the interest. They will call it their investment scheme. I don't patronize them again. See, most of those asking you to put money in this bank and that bank have their cut. They aren't doing it in your interest. Banks these days won't allow you to bid for TBills through them again. Banks are serious 419s these days. When last did you see GTB put money in any of its ATMs? Now they deal with POS traders. They are looking for every way to take from you. Well, you may still get it, but I am sure that it will be a peanut. I do not know what 2% to 3% of any amount of money in naira will give you. Rather, if you find a secured one abroad with 5% in dollars, Euro or Pounds, you are fine. 3. Naira is terrible oooo. Dem be 419. Do not give your money to anyone. If you don't see any, keep your cash madam. 4. You can find a way to get into converting your currency into dollars without using the black market. There are still some legal ways but needs your effort. I went into content creation because I want to deal with more dollars. It depends on you. My point is that in this present Nigeria, it seems you must monitor everything you do. You can't trust anyone. It seems there is nothing you can get into without your effort. You just need to keep doing "longer throat" because there are too many thieves around...even bank CEOs. They are all thieves. 5. The best investment you may want to do is to find a way to be a permanent resident of another country. And maybe you can still keep your job here. Two of my friends have relocated temporarily to secure that. It is for this particular issue. With a naija passport, nothing. Everyone keeps rejecting you and your money outside the country. And putting it here is like playing with fire. No investment seems to be secured in Nigeria except you are a politician. Even they also move our money out cos they know it isn't secured here. To me, you may want to look into it. It makes you plan well. Anyone who wants to invest in crypto or forex should do it by himself or herself. There are BOTs which one can use, but at one's own risk. It is still better than putting it with a 419 fund manager. Do not ever give your money to anyone to invest in crypto or forex. If you want to do it, take your time and use a bot. If it is profitable, fine...if not.....fine. you know the money is to take the risk. You can try with a small amount and see if it works. I do not use them cos I haven't got the time to look into them well. I plan doing it soon. Well, it is not easy oooo. May God help you find something. I am reading posts here too. 23 Likes |
