Saka, Rashford and Sancho lost penalties to deny England their first Euros in decades

Today, how many English fans still wave that loss over their heads? How many of them said Southgate should not call up Saka, or should not start him because of that loss?

Na so normal people dey criticise players. Insult them those first few days, and start on a fresh slate.

But Nigerians? Free kick wey Akpeyi no catch since 2019, dem no gree release the guy blokos.

Una dey see say una no dey alright for this country?
I do not support the vitriol heaped on Okoye in the wake of the Afcon exit.

But then fans all over the world always remember the gaffes or heroics of their players

Southgate lost a penalty in Euro 96 that led to England's semi final exit. Two years ago he had a session with Prince William where he talked about how deeply affected he was by that error. Surely he wasn't just let off the hook by the fans. Fans don't forget

Afcon 2000, Ikpeba cost us, till date people still talk about it. It wanes in effect as the years passes by but fans do not forget.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni missed an open net. People still talk about it. Keita's rashness at WC 2010 cost us. He was never invited after that match.

So if you go through the annals of every footballing nation you'd find instances of costly mistakes which is stamped in the memory of the fans.

It's just that Nigerians are really abusive and bitter people and they inject that bitterness into everything they do.

PurpleHouse has been "laid off"

He has been ruled out of the Ghana-Nigeria match on Friday.

It's also uncertain if he will be available for the return leg on Tuesday.

Fingers crossed

He has been sent to the purplehouse

You people should stop making it look as if some set of fans hate Okoye...

We don't hate him...he has been shaky throughout all the matches he played for us so nothing wrong in getting worried about him manning the post in a crucial double header with our rival.
Add to the fact that the person sitting on the bench has not really done something wrong other than being injured.
We expect him to be better than Uzoho at least...
The thing is that we quickly label criticism as hate. For me, I really do wish Okoye comes good because if he does, it's all for our pleasure. Thing however is that he's not been commanding since he became number one. Kog45 presciently said it during the Afcon match against Egypt when the buzz was high, that he's afraid Okoye will cost us the tournament and that was what happened.

I wish the young man all the best. E just be say e dey make me panic. I can endure otu attacker, otu winger, otu midfielder. But I cannot endure otu defenders and goalkeepers for obvious reasons

Chidera ejuke is better than Samuel chukwueze.
He is a better dribbler and he is unpredictable. Chukwueze is too predictable and easy to mark.
On the other hand defenders do not know what ejuke will do next.
I wonder at the tactical soundness of our coaches.

One European Journo covering the event said the Ghana coach has seen all there is to what Eguavoen is, but AE hasn't seen what he can do with this Ghana squad. My fear is make AE no go do one predictable stuff on Friday. I expect he should have learnt his lessons by now.

We'll beat Ghana. I'm more confident after seeing their released list.

I'm not doubting that. I'm just concerned about ticking the boxes we supposed to see get ticked. Same old is gonna be stale even if we win.

Well in this pic, they surely look fit and glad to be off that bench role at their clubs. wink

Scenes where we spell Ghana. Dunno why such free scoring games have been alien to the GWG. What's our highest riot of any African side in all competitions/qualifiers?

Take it easy Sir. grin
Nomyth:

Man, stop repeating this line and using it to justify players in league one.

Well, for starters, Aribo's case is an exception and not the rule as Aribo is an exceptionally gifted player.

Enyeama was first invited to the NT as Enyimba's second choice goalkeeper ( same as Noble now), will u continue to use that as justification to keep inviting bench warmers in the NPFL to the NT?

Do u know Yisa Shofoluwe was taken straight from the street to the NT, will u continue using that as justification to bring players from the street to the NT?

Like I said, these are more of exceptions than the rule so stop regurgitating this line.

I think 7-1 in the days of Westerhoff with Yekini scoring 4. If my memory serves me right, I think we even played with make shift shorts as they cut the tracksuits and turned them to shorts.
