It’s not a matter of finding gas, anybody/country can do that. It’s about completion and production. That takes resources including technology, financial and most especially time. Can the EU afford 1 year without Russian gas? The answer is no.

The US is fast tracking their LNG development and shipment to counter Russian competitive advantage in Europe. The question at the end of the day will come to pricing. Can the US compete with Russia based on Logistic pricing? Vessel logistics vs. piping

Countries that transact with Russia will do so with another currency. Either Russian currency or the country's currency.
There are still countries that are not supporting USA till date. A lot of shits happen in the black markets as well.

Nigeria don’t consume gas the way we use here in Europe. Gas runs inside the Building like tap water sort of albeit underground. It powers heater for the whole building and hot water for kitchen and bathroom.
It runs 24/7 and you don’t expect loads of tankers queuing up in the gulf sea just to deliver gas to Europe every seconds.

Russia was the 12th wealthiest nation before the war, I can bet they will pushed down the ladder. If they seek loan in the international market, they will pay very high interest rate because their rating would have been affected when they default on their debt.

Russia has less leverage on the west than the other way round. US is the largest producer of oil in the world, Saudi even comes second.

This might just be the beginning of the fall of the PetrolDollar. Saudi was recently talking about something similar. Higher demand for the rouble will increase the price and shave off some of the effects of the sanctions. More anti-west nations might follow suit.

Seems USA might take a big hit. That statement might as well be a declaration of war on the US. The next few days might be interesting.

There is also talk of Nigeria being the exchange house of the Yuan meaning African nations can buy Yuan to pay for their Chinese imports instead of paying in Dollars.
