rabzy: I did not watch much of Shorunmu but I can tell you that he produced one of the best goalkeeping performances, if not the best goalkeeping performance in Nigerian National team football. That was against Germany. It was a masterclass. I think it had to do with the coming of age thing. If Shorunmu did not injure before France 98, I believe we would have gone to the Quarter fianals. 5 Likes |

Why does the Ghanian coaches feel confident about beating us? Because they think they have the tactics to beat us. They are relying on what they saw in AFCON. There is a reason why the very first thing Amuneke did in training is make the boys focus on operating in tight spaces. I am happy Amuneke is in the crew. If Ghana is banking on our weaknesses, we have an answer already. With Amunke in the mix, we will be unpredictable. Of course, there is no secret that we have lethal forwards. But our defense will be stronger than expected. 11 Likes |

Truidstar: My preferred formation is actually a 3-5-2 with Aina and Zaidu as wingbacks...this will take the Ghanaians by surprise but it means our wide forwards will be on the bench which might not appeal to a coach that emphasizes wing play. The 4-2-3-1 is more conservative than Eguavoen's 4-4-2 but I think it gives the team more balance especially in the midfield. 1 Like 1 Share |

charlesemeka85: Em, If you are playing 3-5-2, you can play two top strikers and the full-backs will provide crosses for them. However, not my preferred setup. |

This is why I am happy we have Amuneke. "We have a couple of players who can play in that position and they've been watching him [Ndidi]. The philosophy will not change, the style of play will not change, only personnel will change a little bit." -- Eguavoen 1 Like |

So as you nigerians have packed plenty forwards for this game, who is will defend for u ? Even look at ur goalkeeper-one shot one goal.... Worst part will be nigeria not scoring a single goal with their 12 forwards |

TheSuperNerd: I will pick Iheanacho to start in an attacking pair with Osimhen. I say we keep it basic but Eguavoen and Amunike will call the shots on this. I say a basic 4-4-2, where most players understand the tactical demands. Iheanacho has redefined himself recently and has become what I term a ball-playing creative forward. He now plays more as a 10 than a forward and gives the team fluidity. I think Iheanacho and Osimhen stand as the surest picks to start. Iheanacho's play will surely benefit Osimhen and I see the coaching crew noticing Nacho's tactical playing improvement. 1 Like |

Beyond the tactics, I hope we have a team psychologist...derbies are emotionally charged games...we need proper game management, no need for rash tackles or brash decisions. Let's not risk getting a red card. 5 Likes |
