Punch is reporting that Ghana plans to destabilize our team with off-field tactics especially Covid-19.

According to the report they plan to reject the Covid-19 certificates of some of our key players, insist on running their own tests which will return positive results and rule out the players.

Question:

How possible is this? I thought CAF has an independent healthcare company from Europe conducting the covid tests because of this kind of shenanigans from host countries?

There were reports that such underhand dealings happened during some crucial fixtures of the last AFCON qualifiers.

I expect the NFF to take precautionary measures...maybe travel with our food, water and probably an advance party of hotel staff to disinfect the premises before the arrival of the team. Don't want to give in to conspiracy theories though.

I will prefer all the games at this stage to be fair and clean so Africa can send her best reps to Qatar

Thanks Dr Supernerd for the juicy photos and news from camp.

Amunike is the perfect assistant to Eguavoen. See as his eyes are hovering around the players. See his technical involvement and input.

Starting Innocent Bonke and Frank Onyeka as DM and CM in such a crucial away game is too risky. I don't think they have ever played together in any competitive game.
Emmanuel Dennis and Ademola Lookman will likely start from the bench.
Simon and Chukwueze are likely to be the starting wingers.

It will be very foolish of the coaches to bench Dennis , lookman, Bonke and onyeka.. they must all start.

Chukwueze must be benched.. Simon/Dennis/Amoo/Ejuke can play chukwueze's wing.. while lookman/dennis/aribo starts in Simon's wing.

Then ihenacho/Awoniyi/Sadiq as AM.. Aribo as AM hasn't been very effective while in Rangers I see him playing as a winger and he plays well in LW..

Bonke and Onyeka or at worse because I know Eguavoen likes a thin midfield then just Onyeka as DM, it's should be an abomination to bench an EPL regular like Onyeka.

4-2-3-1 is good for the type of players S.E has.

3-6-1 disguised as 5-4-1 is also good for the S.E..

The formation is very defensive.

Osimhen will be isolated up front.

This formation shows too much respect to Ghana. A 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 will do. We need a shape that gives the team the right balance to attack and defend effectively. Na Ghana I even expect to play 5-4-1

After a long hiatus due to the demands of a new position I recently secured, it is great to be back on this thread.

Looking forward to witnessing yet another edition of world cup qualifiers with this thread and I am certain our men will paint Kumasi GREEN!

Much respect to the thread regulars and elders who have been holding down this space since our AFCON exit.

All in all, it's great to be back!

Not true, I watch Sadiq every matchweek, he cannot play just to set up another striker. He IS the striker.

Sadiq is very good with his feet. That does not mean he will drop so deep in the midfield to literally win tackles and recover possession. Nacho can do that. Anyhow you want to look at it, Nacho is our best player behind the striker, the only reason I would play with a front 2 would be to use him. If the game is not going well in that direction, you can bring on the extra midfielder and switch to a regular front 3, that was the mistake Eguavoen made during the AFCON. He had an excellent strategy, but didn't know when to abandon it in favor of a more conventional approach that may have yielded better results.
I'll disagree on this...
Why do you think our Midfield was scanty in AFCON? Kelechi was too rigid. The work of an SS is more than playing behind the man striker.
Anytime your team is with the ball, you drop deep to add more body to midfield, an SS will create a passing option for the wingers. Though,I'm not sure if he was playing to instruction.
Sadiq will be best suited to that SS more than Kelechi
Kelechi didn't do all these at AFCON

It's an away game and Austin Eguavoen needs to be pragmatic in his approach. He needs numbers in midfield as Ghana will definitely adopt Tunisia's template.

I hope he does not play 4-4-2. He must also not start Iheanacho as that will leave us thin in mdfield, distort the shape & affect the solidity of the team.

That being said, I hope he opts for a 4-3-3 or a variation of it.

My preferred starting line-up is

Goalkeeper - Francis Uzoho

Defenders - Ola Aina (Right back), Leon Balogun (Central Defence), Semi Ajayi (Central Defence), Zaidu Sanusi (Left back)

Midfielders - Innocent Bonke (Defensive Midfield), Frank Onyeka (Central Defensive Midfield/Box-to-Box Midfielder), Joe Aribo (Attacking Midfielder/Support Striker)

Forwards - Bonaventure Dennis (Right Wing Forward), Moses Simon (Left Wing Forward), Victor Osimhen (Centre Forward).

Like someone posited earlier, the future of our indigenous coaches as Super Eagles coaches will be determined by the outcome of this WCQ.

If we don't qualify, indigenous coaches should not be appointed to coach the team for the next 10 years.

it's not about adopting the Tunisian approach, it's how we respond to it,

one major reason we lost, is not just cause of that goal scores, it's our one dimensional apporoach to the game, since Simon wing had been choked, the wingers, are supposed to interchange at will to confuse and scattered their plans,

even Awo and Sodiq were attacking tro that same wing, and with Chuks not in his element, we were always bond to loss that game,

when you look at it, you will see they attacked, and scored thru Chuks wing

They don't even have to exchange. It's more easier marking wingers that hug touchline.

Eguavoen still thinks this is 1994. He might play the 442 wingplay (unless Amuneke is forceful) considering the small amount of midfielders he invited..

He is looking for a mutiu Adepoju like player…
We play 442, the ghanaians might sit back in a low block, shut down the wings and force us to go down the middle.. Same thing the Tunisians did.

So because Klopp threw in Jota and Diaz, we should throw in Lookman and Dennis too?
Diaz and Jota were threw in immediately because the team structure of the Liverpool team was in place.
Could the same be said of the super eagles? Ndidi is missing, we don't even know our starting CBs and we're still testing formations.
And na people like you will berate them if they didn't meet your expectations...you will even go as far as going against their future invitation.
