naaa, thinking about the bigger picture, you guys arent scary at home, we can still qualify but i dont want a situation where we will go and disgrace ourselves at the world cup. Do u know that your fans will turn on ur team in abuja if they are getting frustrated ?

Another player I missed so much yesterday was iwobi

His link up play is second to none in the current eagles team and wold hv been another good option in the AM role
We underrate him so much, since we start playing iheanacho instead of iwobi behind the striker we start having issues.

I think our boys will handle the pressure well in Abuja. They've played under adverse conditions several times before. The final game against Cape Verde where we held them to a 1-1 draw comes to mind.

na those wey no sabi ball Dey underrate iwobi, maybe because he doesn’t dribble the whole pitch with fancy flicks and turns

He is one of the most intelligent players on the team which is evident in his style of play be it from the flanks or his natural position which is the number position

If I am to be the coach of the team my certified attacking midfielders in the team will be iwobi and aribo

I don't want to blame Eguavoen because I think its' too soon and I still believe in him to deliver results.

But you see eh, many Nigerians lack critical thinking. I said it here that Peseiro had the best CV for a Nigerian coach ever. Many people here rejected him and shouted that a local coach is the best thing ever. Judging Peseiro based on the performance of Rohr. How does A relate to B?
Coaching has nothing to do with whether you are a citizen of the country or not.

your second paragraph is the reason we are were we are presently

his problem is he chooses strikers over midfielders but u need midfielders to win games, creative midfielders like okocha in this team , he has to get one

it's not that they were not there with him, he puts them on the bench, and wait till 70plus mins before making a change, when he should had done so, before the commercment of second half

anything is possible but you now have the advantage.... Then again both teams are all foreign based players so like nigerian team weathered the home crowd pressure in ghana our boys can handle the pressure in nigeria too..

Crowd or no crowd, pressure or no pressure, there would be free flow of game at the Abuja stadium for the both teams bcoz of the world class stadium in our backyard here compared to what we saw at the Kumasi stadium that prevented the super eagles from exhibiting what they know how to do best grin
Quote me after the game if Ghana accidentally qualify, I swear i go trek from Nigeria to my house grin grin grin grin cheesy

Yup. Moses Simon should’ve buried that one, for sure. Gosh, even my grandma would’ve scored there.

But that was Kelechi, not Dennis, that Frank Onyeka should’ve passed to … unless we’re talking about a different chance.

But then, you guys are forgetting that Ghana missed some clear cut chances as well. So it all balances out. On the balance of play, I think that a draw was a fair result.

I am surprised that you guys are not complaining more about the non-called penalty. That was a clear penalty. There was absolutely no foul on Kelechi on play. Football is a contact sport.

O pari

nelszx:

Everything no be shot, placing or looping the keeper would have sufficed. Keeper was already stretching on the ground.

Another decision gotten wrong was Onyeka, after he sent 2 players out rather than play inside the congested third, he'd have just passed to Dennis who was closer to him and free to score.

It was Dennis not Iheanacho, he was the player on 20 (picture attached).

That was a right call, Iheanacho dragged the players feet and he fell. That's a foul not a PK

Former Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses has been blocked from joining Burnley by the English Premier League, according to multiple reports in the English media.

Sky Sports says Burnley's attempt to rescue Moses from the distress of being left in limbo in warring Russia has been blocked by the Premier League.

UEFA and FIFA earlier confirmed that teams could register footballers from the Russian and Ukrainian Leagues after war broke out between the two neighbors.

Foreign players who play in the two countries were allowed to suspend their contracts until June and play for another team elsewhere.

Burnley were looking to bolster their squad with the signing of Moses in their battle to beat the drop but the Premier League did not sanction the move as it would affect the sporting integrity of the competition.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner ended a nine-year association with Chelsea last summer after switching to Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow in a permanent deal following a successful loan spell in 2020-2021.

A Premier League winner with Chelsea in 2017, Moses also wore the colours of Wigan Athletic, Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham, scoring 20 goals in 220 appearances combined.

Nna, count me in the camp of anyone but Eguaveon. I can do better with that team than Egu!

Kenneth Omeruo was our best defender at the AFCON, so why leave him on the bench yesterday? Instead he selected a Center Back both of whom don’t have pace and are not good passers of the ball …. against a very fast and energetic Ghanaian team!

How can you play an archaic 424 formation when you don’t have good ball handlers and good passers in midfield?

After watching what Calvin Bassey is doing at Rangers, how can any serious coach starts Sanusi ahead of him?
Furthermore, Kelechi Iheanacho was played out of position yesterday. And it became apparent within the first few minutes that he wasn’t gonna have a good game. So the options are to either change the system or change the player. But coach Egu kept him for 90 mins playing out of position and totally ineffective.

Eguaveon must go!

O pari

So, Rangers is bigger than FC Porto, abi?

Why are u running the coach down unnecessarily? None of the players had a good game apart from maybe Ekong and definitely Uzoho. How can u blame him for the nonsense they played individually? Even most the subs outside of Frank and Etebo didn't cover themselves in Glory. Ademola was falling left and right, Dennis could barely hold on to the ball and Bassey was suspect in some moments. I believe they will all improve but to tear AE down after he got a result even though his team was clearly not at their best is just ridiculous. Nigeria played this same way and lost to Central African Republic.
Eguavoen needs to transition to modern football tactics. He's still hung up on 4-4-2 and that system is flat. He needs to be more tactically savvy.

we got fooled with that win against Egypt, and a 100% group record, to retain AE, now it seems we are in for it, a Jose Peseiro would had make good use of those players, if he had been appointed,

anyways let's see what the return leg had in store
How sure are you that Peseiro would have made good use of the players?

I saw a tweet from yesterday that predicted Nigeria would qualify after being held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg, and then winning 2-1 on the second leg.

So far so good, first prediction came correct.

Na those kind of things I dey like see, no be doom and gloom
A 2-1 scoreline Is not a win in reality. Away goals rules means this is draw and the match goes to penalty
Oops.
