Nigeria and Almeria forward Sadiq Umar has told TribalFootball.com he has outgrown LaLiga2. The 25-year-old has finally found a home in Andalusia after numerous loan spells whilst signed with Italian giants Roma. Sadiq, currently with Nigeria for their World Cup qualifiers, spent time at Bologna, Torino, NAC Breda, Rangers, Perugia and Partizan. He sealed a permanent move to Belgade giants Partizan before landing in Almeria in 2020. 35 goals in 67 league appearances later and Sadiq is ready to take the next step in his career. Asked if he had outgrown the Segunda Division and was ready to play at a higher level, even potentially with Almeria, Sadiq told TribalFootball.com: "Yes. Though it is good to be playing week in week out. It makes me grow as a player. "My mission is to make my team promote to La Liga this season and we will see what will happen next." Sadiq - who was linked with Manchester City last summer - currently sits fourth in the league goalscorer charts with 15 which has helped Almeria sit one point off first-placed Elche. "Yes I'm always glad when we win games like that and me contributing to my team means a lot. My job on the pitch is to score goals," Sadiq continued. "It gives me great pleasure, but the most important is the team's result in every game. "It would mean a lot for us as a team to win the Segunda title. That is our goal and now we are in a good position contending for the title. Although, we still have a lot of games to play." 1 Like |

chidi1: Ghana should just start Jordan Ayew and we can be rest assured that they will not do jackshit... Their game plan will be to park the bus and hit us on the counter obviously.. Their forwards are fast and tricky but their end product is much worse than our forwards... We just need to play a system that I'll ensure that our forwards are well feed... 1 Like |

Now eyes are opening. My criticism of Eguavoen began even before the AFCON. During AFCON i criticised his system of play and choice of players for a 4-4-2. Many celebrated his wins, i inferred the wins to the new coach syndrome and individual brilliance. Many said we played beautiful football, and i asked where and when was the beautiful football. Eguavoen said he spent sleepless nights selecting his squad for the AFCON. I judged the scenario and said it is not good that he should spend sleepless nights over a task like that given that he is not new to the team, he should have known the players that will suit his system, and players that will struggle. After the sleepless nights, i saw his starting eleven, player positions, instructions and tactics, and somehow gave up. This day, everything that i said of Eguavoen is begining to make sense to some people who were then still celebrating their new coach and making excuses for him. Criticisms are good when the people being critisized are open to learning. I hope Eguavoen learns. Learning on the job is something that can happen to everybody. 1 Like 1 Share |
