Russia's focus has never really been on the Northeast. Sad some of their soldiers had to be captured. The main focus has been the liberation of Donbass. The capture of Mauripol sealed it.
Everywhere in the Donbas billboards have come up saying "Speak Russian and don't be ashamed about it".
With the successful capture of Donbass, the next agenda is to make Ukraine a landlocked country. No access to the sea. Ukraine will exist but half the size of what it presently is.
