It is a fact that the candidate/Party with the
majority of votes is qualified to be declared
the winner of any Election in Nigeria.
Despite the fact that specific factors were
involved, Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate Past
Governor of Rivers State and the current
Minister of Transportation, became Governors
without participating in the Election.

How Did This Happen?

Amaechi was the winner of the PDP
Governorship Primaries in Rivers State in
2007.
However, during the April 2007 General
Elections, his name was replaced with that of
Sir Celestine Omehia, who appeared on the
ballot.

The People Democratic Party, PDP won the
election, Amaechi then went to court, and on
October 26, 2007, the Supreme Court ruled in
his favor and ordered Omehia's removal as
Governor of Rivers State, as well as the
issuance of a Certificate of Return to Amaechi,
who was the Authentic Winner of the PDP
Gubernatorial Primaries.

[s]Amaechi remains the only Nigerian politician
to have accomplished this achievement till
date.[/s]

You meant Abubakar Audu. Audu Ogbe is still alive and he's Benue not Kogi.

Yahaya bello too didn't contest. He assumed the post when the party candidate died b4 the official announcement of the governorship result. That's why he's been useless since day one of his tenure.

So the question I keep asking, are we voting for the political party or the person? If a candidate wins an election but dies before being inaugurated, is it right for the political party to impose another governor on the people?
A serious question that need be answered. Omehia was removed, Amaechi who didn't participate was brought in, invariably means the seat is for the party not for the individual because if it is for the person Amaechi shouldn't have inherited the post. Why should a Governor then pack another party's property and move to another party

Yet the same judiciary which granted him the position due to party affiliation refused over the years to give mandate to the winning party when the principal decides to defect to another party?

Honestly when I saw the topic it was only Yahaya Bello that came to my mind. That ungrateful young man that was just fortunate to be become a governor now thinks he is capable of running for presidency when he can't even develop small Kogi State.

His name should be Abubakar Audu and not Audu Ogbe.Audu Ogbe is the former minister of Agriculture and I think he is very much alive.

Another fact. Theodore Orji won the 2007 Abia state gubernatorial election while in prison. Infact Orji Uzor Kalu campaigned for him all through the period he was in Nigeria.
