***WHAT NEXT FOR THE EAGLES***

It is no longer news that the Super Eagles of Nigeria were knocked out by Ghana on Tuesday, 29th of March at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja. It is also regrettable that a life was lost in the violence that ensued following the final whistle. However, we need to pick ourselves up and move on.

AFCON 2023 IS COMING
Qualifiers will likely begin in September. Let's appoint a technical Adviser (Foreign or indigenous) who will use the summer break to work with the players and finetune tactics ahead of September.

FOOTBALL IDEOLOGY
We need to come up with a football ideology or philosophy that will take us to a much higher level and encourage most of the coaches in the country to adopt same ideology.

FORGET ABOUT WINGPLAY
Nigerians love wing play and possession Football. However we don't have gifted midfielders like Xavi, Iniesta or De Bruyne and neither do we have excellent wingers like Ribery or Leroy Sane. I would love to recommend Klopp's gen-gen press especially the 4231 he used at Dortmund.

TIME TO APPLY PRESSURE
Pressing be it the high-press or gengen press or even the mid-block press has come to stay in Football. The best footballing clubs play with all or atleast one form of Pressing. During the last Afcon, Senegal incorporated a lot of Pressing enroute winning the trophy. We should do same. Luckily for us we have players like Osimhen, Onyeka, Aribo who can apply  pressure when called upon to do so.

To be continued......
If you're not thegoodjoe you really need to credit him with this write-up because this is what he has been shouting for the past few years.

Rohr might not qualify for this World Cup

You saw how we lost to car already ,and with our insha allah GKs they might just cost rohr also
but one thing I give him credit for, he knows how to get the best out of our strikers. Afcon 2019 qualifier and the tournament itself, Ighalo was the top scorer. Afcon 2022 qualifier Osimhen was the top scorer, also scored goals during the group stages of the WC qualifier but Eguavoen took over and our strikers suddenly forgot how to score goals, so bad that we were barely creating scoring chances.

Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down as Nigeria
boss after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the
2022 World Cup.

Nigeria were eliminated on the away goals rule
following a 1-1 draw with Ghana in Abuja in the
second leg of their play-off on Tuesday.
Eguavoen, 56, was placed in interim charge of the
side in December following the sacking of long-
serving coach Gernot Rohr.

He led the team to the last 16 at the Africa Cup of
Nations this year, and was then tasked with
reaching the World Cup finals in Qatar.

Nigeria's exit at the hands of their fierce West
African rivals was met by an angry reaction from
home supporters, who pelted the Ghanaian
delegation with missiles and damaged dugouts and
advertising hoardings after staging a pitch invasion.

Former Nigeria international Eguavoen, who had two
previous spells in charge of the national side, is
expected to return to his position of technical
director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Meanwhile, the rest of the Super Eagles coaching
staff has been dismissed, and offers of two-and-a-
half-year contracts have been withdrawn.

Emmanuel Amuneke, Joseph Yobo and Salisu Yusuf
had joined Eguavoen's backroom staff last month,
with Aloysius Agu retained as goalkeeping coach.

"We thank the coaches and team officials for their
service to the nation and wish them success in
their future endeavours," NFF general secretary Dr
Mohammed Sanusi said.

A statement from the NFF said a new management
team would be announced "after a proper review"
and would be charged with "reinvigorating the Super
Eagles to face future challenges appropriately".
Perfect, clear everybody let's start from scratch.

Finally Alloy Agu, Joseph Yobo and other incompetent ones don ja

Poor and unbalanced team selection limited the coaches options.
Our boys were psychologically unprepared for that encounter. No sense of urgency except for selected few.

Every Nigerian fans are pained but the players are the biggest loosers. Players like Moses Simon will likely not have that world Cup experience.
how will they be psychologically prepared when a journalist enter training ground dey ask Lookman ‘can you prepare Eba? Can you speak Yoruba?’

Hello everyone smiley. Some expected follow up news to the Ghanaian game have started to surface.

1. Equavoen resigns
2. Entire technical crew sacked.
3. Abuja stadium banned from hosting FIFA games indefinitely

Dark moments for Nigerian football.
For me, nothing dark about the first two news except for the third that AAD spent money to renovate.

Pray tell, what did the Otto improve?

Easy, he made them play together.

In Abuja, you could hardly point out individual Ghana players. The defended in unison, executed the game plan all together. They were lucky multiple times in both legs but even then it showed how well drilled they were positionally, which we lacked.
