but one thing I give him credit for, he knows how to get the best out of our strikers. Afcon 2019 qualifier and the tournament itself, Ighalo was the top scorer. Afcon 2022 qualifier Osimhen was the top scorer, also scored goals during the group stages of the WC qualifier but Eguavoen took over and our strikers suddenly forgot how to score goals, so bad that we were barely creating scoring chances.

Agreed about the strikers

I kind of understand why Rohr never thought of his team as having superstars and why he always sounded modest about them. As a matter of fact they are very much average, and we failed to wake up on this thought.

My dissatisfaction with Rohr was that he allowed his knowledge of the averageness of the team to simmer into his selections and overall cautious game plan. And and the latter point this didn't work especially with teams we should not be average against. CAR at home but he redeemed himself with a win on a neutral ground. Then seira Leone at home and away. Then CV. He was no longer playing like we were average , he was setting us up like we were coequal of below average teams
‘Rohr doesn’t speak positively, he transmits negative energy to the boys’. Una don see Eguavoen wey promise heaven and earth shey una body don calm down.

Those are far off when the NPFL had some promise. In recent times, nothing impressive comes from that league.
What investment have you made there that you want to benefit from? Is it not the NPFL you have teams traveling on our bad and dangerous roads at night to play the following day under the hot sun by 4pm.

The winners of your league take home no cash prize and you're yabbing.
Do you know clubs who qualify for Caf championship in Morroco take home $4M? Yet the Morrocans are saying it's not enough.

People are calling for investments, commitment and restructure of the league and you're engaging in rethorics. Presently what we have can only be classified as hit and miss. You basically have a bare bone structure with no foundation to create an ecosystem for millions of potential footballer scattered all over the streets of Nigeria.

I am surprised Eguavoen has not resigned as coach of the team and Technical Director of the NFF.

What is he still waiting for?

Djamel Belmadi of Algeria and Carlos Quieroz of Egypt resigned immediately and didn't wait to be sacked.

Eguavoen's sit tight attitude is disgusting.

Walahi I will be extremely happy if we can snatch Belmadi. He is one coach that can get his players to play like a team. That loss to Cameroon was really just unlucky.

I know one day we’ll be free from the grip of the ‘94 set. They pressured the sport minister till he forced Pinnick to hire one of them. I’m sure Pinnick must be beating himself up for not following his instinct and bringing in Paseiro

Easy, he made them play together.

In Abuja, you could hardly point out individual Ghana players. The defended in unison, executed the game plan all together. They were lucky multiple times in both legs but even then it showed how well drilled they were positionally, which we lacked.
• There was no individual Ghanaian player you could even bank on in the first place
• Defended? Even CAR could do the same

A team that practically defended 90mins is what you are trying to apply make up for to look pretty? Do we talk of the wayward long passes off to throw-in or how for large periods they were in their own half?

When I first began to learn chess I spent time learning the most common opening moves of chess; Queen Gambit. I learnt how to counter it and dissuade it's user from following through with. With time those who were popular in my school began to draw and lose to me because I only came to the board knowing they'd play that and I had mastered how to nullify it.

Fast foward to when I started meeting more skillful chess players. I chop am woto woto

I think you should get where I'm driving at. Bless God Otto's gamble worked but you'd be lying to yourself if you think he did anything outside being a spoiler

I agree, Ghana only qualified because we were poor not because they did anything special. Over 180min of football the only time they impressed was the first 20min in Kumasi, but I’m not writing them off, I expect him to invite proper footballers before the World Cup

If Ghana do well at the world cup the tune of many would change. You'll start hearing we lost to a good team.

180 minutes of football played and we couldn't score a goal from open play

Like I always say,for a man with a loud mouth like AE, he has the ability of an amateur coach

But if we can't beat a team like Ghana, we have no business in the world Cup

Better days Ahead

I'd be rooting for them at the WC. With a strengthened squad and a favourable group, everywhere suppose good

I just checked the format of 2026 WC and I am not impressed with it. 3 teams per group? Round of 32?

Coaches always say “we take it game after game”, e get why.

One thing Otto Addo did well was to study our team and play the best tactics that would maximize Ghana’s chances of qualifying, even with a relatively poor squad. I’m sorry, but Eguavoen didn’t do that.

By the way, Rohr too was a poor coach. Eguavoen was worse but Rohr was still poor.

What we need is a tactician that understands the skill set of our players and can maximize them to the good of the team. A coach who can look at a game and do what needs to be done tactically to ensure we come out with the W.

Eguavoen’s biggest failure was overrating his team so much that he overlooked the finer tactical details that would have swung the game to our favor in favor of the big picture that “we are better than them”.

No need directing the words to me. I'm not responsible for the damage to the league. I have no business with the Nigerian league in any way.

I'm also not the one to invest in it. I have made posts back in time about what can be done to the league. But for now, picking players from the league is a huge no. It is still the same sentiment that brought Eguavoen, a coach averse to success into the helm of affairs.
