Igbofam: Gas that they have not been able to provide for their citizens to reduce poverty, they should offer it to EU? Do you people even listen to some of the things you say? Nigeria should only be thinking of exporting gas when they have been able to adequately provide enough for citizens for cooking and energy, before talking about exporting to Europe. This is the same madness they did with Phcn that makes us supply light to neighboring countries when we don't have stable electricity. |

SeeThisLoser: All possible deals have been made, the US will provide Europe with 15billion cubic this year (10%) of what it gets from Russia. Qatar has agreed to a deal in principle but the infrastructure will need a minimum of 3 years to build first. Maybe you know more than the EU which estimates a timeline of 2027-2030. 2 Likes |

Igbofam:Oga, buttomline, no source of gas will be cheaper than Russian gas. The proximity of Russia to Europe means pipelines. Lng can never compete. Besides Russia has lng from yamal at lower shipping cost All these is just bluster because common business sense will ensure you pay less to achieve more profit or to be competitive. For Europe to be competitive their factories need cheaper gas. If China, India etc buys cheaper, they keep producing cheaper goods at the detriment of European and American industries. More western factories will have to move manufacturing to Asia. It does not pay them on the long run. Germany and the likes have their economic future tied to Russian cheap accesable gas. Forget all the bluster. You can never go wrong if your price is right. Ok, jagaban station ltd is selling at ₦165 per liter, Kanu petrol station plc is selling at ₦100 per liter. Because I don't like eg kanu, I will then go and buy from jagaban at ₦165? 5 Likes |

i don't think this should b major news, even though I don't support Putin's war. for christ sake, countries like Lithuania, Latvia etc have a population of less than 3M each... a small LNG plant can take care of all their energy needs.. its when countries like Germany, France etc, EU countries with over 30M people, pull out of the cheap Russian gas and go for LNG successfully, then that becomes great news. 3 Likes |

Cptflint:their population does not make them a dependent nation. They are independent, moreso a country who planned gas independent from Russia before her threat. At least they have more responsible govt than some african vegetables who are on seat of power without foresight. This is not act of population, it is act of wisdom. Nigeria with population of 200m and over 6trillion cubic feet of LPG still import refined lpg. Am not talking of our inability to refine our crude oil. At times intelligent countries with small population rule big countries with large population with unintelligent leaders. 2 Likes |

simplesearch:I think you're the one who's not really logical here, from a business and any other perspective. "The customer is always right" saying...fails in this sense. A bright business will always create a healthy balance between customer patronage and its own standard. A business without standard will be shut down by the same customers it is seeking patronage from. Unless customers you mean are angels from heaven and not fickle, unpredictable human beings again. Whether Lithuania buys gas from Russia or not, I'm sure that Ukraine is not going to join NATO. And Lithuania not buying from Russia doesn't mean that Russia won't get other buyers elsewhere. Venezuela that was mercilessly sanctioned by US was later begged by the same US for amendment of bilateral ties when it became clear to all and sundry that Putin was going to "weaponise" his gas. If Lithuania wants to go to hell to get gas in order to spite Russia, that's their business. It still doesn't mean that others won't buy from Russia, and most importantly, Ukraine will not join NATO. |

People here chatting shit! Calling Lithuania a tiny country forgeting that when it comes to international politics, diplomacy/diplomatic relationship is what counts more. Same Lithuania was part of the reason EU/China summit which was slated to hold around 2020 or so was cancelled. EU claimed China was exhibiting hostility towards EU, and for that yhe summit was cancelled. Small Lithuana called out China on its genocide on Ughigur muslims (Im not sure of the spelling of Ughigur but you get the point right), called out China on its hostility towards Taiwan. Even China come soft. Something China find it hard to do. Even, China granted visa to one of the coaches from Lithuanua who keep calling them out, the granted him visa to the last winter olympics. Like I wrote, its the diplomacy that counts. If Russias decide to be hostile to any EU nation, likewise if any EU nation decides to cut diplomatic relationship with Russia (no matter the size of the EU nation), Russia will find it difficult to relate with the rest EU nations. Lithuania is member of the EU and EU trades as a block. And even so, Its also a NATO member. Russia understand the implication. 2 Likes 1 Share |
