If you get sense you go know say the billions Remitta or other banks are moving daily is not their money so how does that come into this discussion?

We are talking about market value, this one is saying nonsense. Bring Remitta market value cap or keep shut. This discussion is above what your brain can comprehend.

So because you are a bank or payment agency, any money of your customer is suddenly your money? I know before that IPOB terrorists no get sense but you just validated my assertions.

By the way Calendly is based in USA, if Forbes acknowledged it as one of the most successful black business why should I waste time with a NOBODY like you from Upper Iweka?

You think the world does not know about the state of Nigeria?

My brother they know oh, honestly they do. That's how somebody was trying to engage me on a conversation of how corrupt our politicians are: hiding money in their mattresses and all that.

Me sensing where the conversation was headed changed the lingo to favouritism and the guy mentioned something along the lines of "I'm being polite with my responses" and smiled before he started telling me about corruption in his country. Yes, better you tell me about yours than I about mine.

But the guy you quoted has a point. In as much as I hate this country with every fibre of my being, the last thing I'll do is thrash talk it in front of foreigners.

So Gatwick airport that he bought for $3.7billion is not up to Davido's $30million? Eya so sorry

Ogunlesi is a private equity investor. He collates investors' money to make purchases of businesses and then collects a performance fee based on the profitability of the companies purchased.

He is the not the one who has the money used to buy the airport. Neither does he own the airport like people like to claim. His company (of which he is one of the many shareholders ) runs the fund that owns the airports. In other words, it's not even his company that owns the airport per se but the fund managed by his company.

TL/DR Ogunlesi is a fund manager and private equity operator. He doesn't own Gatwick.

Funny Guy. Let me shock you. The same Ogunlesi owns the Italian Railway Company. Such an info as this would never make any local news headlines because he's not a noisemaker

No, he doesn't. Ogunlesi is not even a billionaire. Don't argue. Do your research. It's like someone managing the pension funds of Nigeria who then uses the collated funds to buy a company. Does he own the company? No.

It's what I already know and not even today,no need to argue ok? If you don't mind, you can go the Google route on whether he owns Gatwick Airport and Italian railway company or not.

It’s a fact that sometimes Tribals war here shed light on Nigeria past, present and possible future occurrences but will still need to tune down the rate at which we attack each other cuz it ain’t funny again and I am really scare of the length at which it’s going. My argument now is that HOW CAN WE MEND OURSELVES AND LET LOVE LEADS?

So, who owns Gatwick? Since you seem to know better, maybe you should just educate me. Have you heard of GIP( Global Infrastructure Partner) ? I have a relation and a Britsh friend working there. The company acquired Gatwick Airport in 2009 at £1.455 billion. The Italian Railway Company acquired isn't even added to this. Mr Ogunlesi owns GIP, fyi. Like i said earlier, this is an undebatable issue. It's there for those who already know.

Eriokanmi:
So, who owns Gatwick?

It is owned by Gatwick Airports Limited which is in turn owned by Vinci Airports, an Airport investment company.

Adebayo Ogunlesi owns an infrastructure fund called GIP that originally bought Gatwick. Note GIP is a fund with money collected from various investors. Ogunlesi manages it in exchange for fees. Typical fees are 2% management and 20% performance fees. Ogunlesi is a fund manager and it is the Nigerian press that basically popularize the idea that he owns Gatwick. At best, you could say he controlled a fund that bought Gatwick but saying he owned it would be stretching the truth.

In any case, GIP's infrastructure fund sold the airport to Vinci Airports.

Oga, do you know what private equity funds are?

GIP is a fund manager that pools funds from various investors. GIP's funds not GIP own the infrastructure and in the case of Gatwick, they have since disposed of the investment. Bayo Ogunlesi is a fund manager. At best, he controls the investments. To say he "owns" will be stretching the truth.

It's like a company like Stanbic IBTC pension managers buying majority shares in say, MTN. You are not going to say the CEO of Stanbic IBTC Pensions owns MTN. That would be absurd.

Gatwick is owned by Vinci Airports.

I just confirmed from a former classmate working at GIP( a white Briton). I think you have a point and that doesn't also prove that I was wrong. The GIP status has since changed. He said GIP acquired a major stake in 2009 at an agreed deal for 10 years. Upon expiry in 2019, Vinci now took over with over 50% stake while GIP still retains the remaining 49%. The stake of Vinci could also change upon expiry of agreement. He didn't tell me how long would the ongoing stake last though. I was still dwelling on the old info cos I knew when GIP struck this deal back then. Tnx

Stop this rubbish appreciate good thing. I'm Igbo but u can't deny that the yorubas are leading in IT and entertainment. We all have areas we have comparative advantage. But some people both Igbo and Yoruba always try to pass a blanket judgment in some issues, using sentiments rather than being objective. It is also important to note that the North is not doing great in terms of human capital development, they are still holding unto politics which is not sustainably because the world is fast moving from the mindset of common wealth to what u can bring to the table as an individual.

When it comes to setting up a proper business organisation, the Yorubas are head and shoulders above others in Nigeria. Our brothers from the East are only good in trading.

The other day one of them said I’m confused that what’s the difference between trading and running a business. This is what I told him.

When you buy and sell oranges to make profit, that’s trading.
When you buy oranges and produce juice from it and sell to make profit, that’s business.

A ju ara wa lọ, ijajadi kọ.
Great explanation. Succinctly put.
