DoctorOlasDesk: You're deceiving yourself. How will British do turn around maintenance for installations that were installed by Russians from the onset with all units and components up till manual written in Russian language and heavily dependent and reliant on Russian engineering tech?.
Its what happens when people get overly sensational all of a sudden. Russia since USSR has been very good to Nigerians, don't lift a finger in a battle that is bigger than you.
Now to the core issue at hand. The Ajaokuta steel complex was developed by the country by the Russians from the very onset and the Russians took pre-emptive measures to ensure anything around it is done through them and them only.
Almost the entire schematics have Russian inscriptions and manuals and operators needed to be solely trained by Russians to operate them
Secondly, some of the core operational resources used in the production chain line can only be supplied by Russia. No other nation on earth has these highly specialized resources and components
Hence, nothing can be done to Ajaokuta steel complex without the Russians.
Why then has it been made useless for over two decades without use as other like steel industrial complexes.
Here lies what the whites are not telling you guys. British and Russians alike. I know these well hidden truths first hand, cause as a genius with 160+ IQ, I'm privy to highly classified information across these complex issues. Saying this humbly. Though
To make any nation great, one doesn't need politicos, lack of corruption like APC and PDP have both been throwing banters for years
To make any nation great, a nation needs key things like :
Highly operational chemical industrial completed, highly optimized metal refining and processing complex which ranks as the core bedrock of all forms of heavy productivity and industrialization.
So, here's the bane of the matter, take away any nations ability to heavily produce, refine nd process metals and such a nation becomes useless. I dare to say it anywhere
Mind you guys, between 2001 and today over $60 Billion has been spent on revamping the steel complex in batches of $2- $20 Billion for every time it hits the news that repairs are been done.
Guess what guys, it takes average of $15-20 Billion dollars to build a modern one
Same strategy to make the oil and gas industry useless is what's playing here to. The oligarchist and the deliberate desire to keep the nation under developed is the motive behind this.
Who knows if Dangote will also spot this opportunity.

At least someone is doing something about getting abandoned critical infrastructure up and running. Your thieving, "lootocratic" zero developmentally minded Leprechaun of a PDP party were only keen on packing monies meant for our collective good.. PDP : Share the money... Oga the only reason that complex has not worked and won't ever work is because of it location Russian languages are thought in schools across the world Even Google can translate it if push comes to shove The Russian in building that complex chided Onitsha as the most suitable location with all reasons advanced... Shagari, succumbed to ethnic politics and they took it to their North and returned to build the Meturlogical school in Onitsha That project will never work.. It is signpost of injustice in Nigeria 1 Like |

To read through this thread is to witness the recapitulation of all of the nonsensical development ideas which have led Nigeria to remain a Third World cesspool while many of its former peers have joined the ranks of developed nations: inane conspiracy theories about "the West" plotting against Nigeria for some unspecified reason or other, insistence on the "essential" nature of what is a commodity in the age of machine learning and biotech, vehement appeals to "infant industry" arguments which have never shown any success in all of Nigeria's history, appeals to tribalism and insistence that Ajaokuta would have been a roaring success if only the "right" people (aka their "kinsmen" ) were left in charge, even pompous boasting about a supposed 160+ IQ from someone who clearly couldn't reason his way out of a paper bag!
As far as I can see, only one contributor to the entire thread clearly sees Ajaokuta for what it is: a ridiculous white elephant project which was already obsolete and uncompetitive when it was being initially built by Shagari, let alone today when Chinese operators are flooding international markets with steel at prices no one can compete with - not even the Americans, the South Koreans and the Japanese, let alone a third-rate country like Russia whose sole remaining exports are raw materials like oil, gas and manganese. Pouring more money down the black hole that is Ajaokuta in the name of "development" is the most pointless and ridiculous policy any government could follow, as would be obvious to anyone who understood what the "sunk cost fallacy" means.
The belief that manufacturing has some sort of sacred role that justifies diverting scarce funds to, at the expense of essentials like reducing infant mortality, providing clean drinking water, and ensuring everyone can get a quality free primary through JSS education, is at the foundation of much that has gone wrong in Nigerian history, even leaving aside all the rampant corruption. This pathetic superstition is what has given birth to Dangote's monopolies that double the price of housing for every Nigerian, it's what has led to rampant smuggling of adulterated food products and drugs that kill vast numbers every year, it's why oil bunkering and "refining" have ruined the Niger Delta with pollution, and it's why "herdsmen" can hold a nation to ransom in the name of more expensive and vastly inferior beef to what could be imported from Argentina and the USA. One would think after 62 years of failed protectionism and import-substition policies, Nigerians would have started to know better, but threads like this are a real eye-opener in that regard. Nigerian history in a nutshell: largely stupid masses go along with largely stupid policies of largely stupid leaders, then act astonished when the results of their stupidity are further failure and impoverishment! 1 Like |

One quick question, why has all turn around maintenance operations since two decades not get the complex operational even for an hour. Answer the question Read my last sentence, "if Nigeria was a serious country" Nothing works in this country, NNPC, NDDC, This very steel plant and many other govt agencies are just avenue for stealing nothing more. Look at our refinery for example, they have Carried out TAM on them numerous times but no one is working. The problem of Nigeria is Nigeria. This steel plant doesn't need Russia for it's completion, various countries might have different design and all, but they work with thesame principle. |
