Surveying and Geoinformatics (Land surveying) is a professional course and be practice even while in school but the only area of discouragement is to get licensed as it takes years most especially for HND graduate.
But thank God am in Surveying profession... No regret

If you aren't going to school to study any of the courses listed below, pls don't bother going at all:

•Medicine
•Nursing
•Pharmacy
•Computer Science
•Radiography
•Some engineering courses

If it's not any of the above, abeg sit down for house, use that money you would have used to pay school fees and get a Laptop... start learning to code,in 8 months time, you'll be glad you did so.

What I came to realize about life is this; our parents know what they've seen when they urge and insist we study "professional" courses in school, but we young folks disregard their point of view as "ancient"... I for example was studying Botany in the university, reasoned what I'll do with this thing in the long run... omorr I saw I was just wasting my time oh,took jamb in my third year, applied for pharmacy in a federal university, got the admission... I'm really glad I made that decision.

Living in Nigeria is hard... don't make it harder for yourselves by studying Nonsense

Na wetin I dey tell my dad last week concerning my younger bro studying biology education.

He needs to take jamb sharpally and move to Nursing otherwise na OYO grin

Even the computer science you guys are hyping it's because you don't know what is going on, they are decieving you that there is money in internet but Many of them struggle to get a single work on upwork, personally I have Many computer science graduate WHO are jobless

Studied Zoology. Will forever regret it. Had a flair for CS. Still don't know why I never pursued that instead. Now I'm learning via tutorials. Shame.

Pharmacy and computer are not part of them sir, instead, medical laboratory and make sure you know what you are doing, as a medical lab scientist, just attach urself to 3 to 5 private medical doctors in ur area, you can tell them you would be given them returns from ur proceed.......with that, sky is ur limit.

The courses worth studying in Nigeria are ;

Medicine and Surgery
Elect/Elect Engineering
Mech Engr
Computer Science
Civil Engineering
Pharmacy
Nursing

And maybe Law

In short ; Professional courses and courses that are practicable in an average society.

Studying a non professional course and a non - STEM based course is almost a sure way to poverty if your parents are not well connected. Imagine a guy with struggling parents studying Zoology, Botany, Linguistics, Classics, History, Philosophy etc. Nah big suffer ooh.
Please remove civil engineering you need link to get work

Yes.

But right now I’m not really keen on going to do another first degree. Never. Unless the first degree is in USA or Canada but even that is not possible at my age or level of funds. I’m looking at possible of starting up businesses here in Nigeria and become an employer. Or use my first degree to practice in USA or Canada, send funds back home.

Shey you know employment opportunities for pharmacists are becoming thinner, unless you want to work in someone else’s established pharmacy and earn less than 120k.

These days you must look beyond whatever you studied else you would end an average man.

I intended to study medicine, though I chose chemistry as my second choice. I was given chemistry. At a point I wished I studied Engineering until I started heading both Engineers and non Engineers. Infact, the overall head of the company studied English language grin.

We have access to best hospitals due Health insurance, when doctors there tell you their salaries you will pity them.

You must rise above course of study, but ensure you study professional course if that's what you believe in.

I was taught in secondary school by people who had Msc in Engineering! They were earning peanut.

Be sure to do something in addition to your job. No matter how small.

Sell good items to your friends... identity one thing that you can get original of it and sell. Be consistent and soon your salary would just be for feeding.

I have a friend who because he graduated with 2.2 lost hope in looking for job, he started one thing to another. Today he can pay double of my salary that of the general manger of my company comfortably even with our Masters and PhD grin

No, never

The only regret that I had was that I didn't get to study my childhood course which was pharmacy because I love being in the lab, wearing white and mixing chemicals

My teachers in primary school always kept asking my mum if I studied pharmacy in the uni because they all knew that was my dream course

I did computer science and I can't substitute it for any other course but still have that love for pharmacy

Maybe I'll marry a lady that studied pharmacy when I meet one that I'll be compatible with

NasoLifeBe!!!

We are in the same shoe, my first jamb na pharmacy I put at Niger Delta university 2009, I for still study pharmacist, but who cares what I study, na me dey run everything myself.

At the end after my higher studies as a nutritionist, I still go for pharmacist aprentist. Due to the love I have for that course

Same here I switched already, now a software engineer but have to spend so much time studying computer science fundamentals which I could have done the first time around. Engineering don cast aside electrical and computer engineering.
