More like a court wedding and a garden wedding-like ceremony that doesn't require any legalities.

The white wedding is technically a westerners white/legal wedding but many Nigerians, especially the ladies, don't see it like that hence, the need to want a court wedding, traditional wedding and white "aka church" wedding.

The "white" wedding per the above scenario may be planned to be a garden party with the bride wearing white, with a "pastor" officiating nd the attendees treating it like the main wedding. Example of this
1. Annie and 2baba's Dubai beach wedding.
2. Annie and 2baba's 10th year renewal of vows ceremony in SA.

Many ladies have always built up ideas of how they want their wedding ceremonies to be and when they have registry weddings without an after-party, they feel like they've been cheated out of getting married and they feel like they are not truly married till they wear a white wedding dress for a "white" wedding.
Many ladies in Nigeria do this and feel this way.

This is just me trying to see from the dependant's point of view since getting legally married to the same person twice, irrespective of the situation, is impossible except a divorce is 1st effected.

1. You have to understand that before you went to the embassy for the visa, you declared that you have the money to pay for your full tuition.
2. You and the school agreed to pay your tuition through installments. And if there are 4 installments to pay and you have defaulted on the second installment, what is the probability you can pay the rest .
3. If said the student can settle his/her debt before leaving the school or graduating. How will you do that if for a whole year you weren't about to get the fees. Remember, once you graduate you have limited number of days to stay in the UK.
4. If you think they are exploiting you cause you own £800 and got dismissed, then go to schools in Europe that are tuition free. No one is forcing any of us to go and study in the UK.

It would be a waste of my precious time to engage in conjectures. I addressed the £800 issue and it is exploitative and nothing more. Nothing is cast in stones, rules are made by humans who themselves subject it to changes every now and then.

There is a reason FAFSA is there in the US and there is a reason people on student's loan are groaning under its exploitative tendencies in the US even after graduating decades ago.

Stop defending capitalists, they won't spare you when you in their black book

Same reason the Op wants to do the right thing by doing a change of address but you that drafted the study route policy with UKVI knows they don't entertain shoe and pinching

Mimi has kind of explained what I think op's intentions are. Obviously it's illegal to have 2 marriage certificates

Hello,

I am trying to understand oh, he approaches registry and says he wants to give notice of marriage and says he is already married in Nigeria but wants to get married again in the UK.
Do they marry people that are married when it is not vow renewal?

If so he/she might need to present divorce or death certificate according to this link though

To the OP, this link might be worth a read: https://www.gov.uk/marriages-civil-partnerships/documents-youll-need-to-give-notice

My course starts in May. I am yet come across anybody from nairaland currently studying at the university though.

Before getting CAS , you'll have to :
Pay at least 65% deposit
Provide TB TEST
PROOF OF FUND
PASS CREDIBILITY INTERVIEW

The reviews online are not really encouraging, but the location, facilities and the infrastructure = tempting.

Between, it was the only university that had May Intake for my intended course ..... I am hoping it'll be a good choice.

I'll advise you pay early if you've made up your mind .

The good thing is you don't have to pay an Agent to help with the process.

The bolded my friend, has been the problem for me, the fees and the rest won't be much of an issue.. but I don't want to start with a school with bad reviews from students.

Have you paid the 65% though?

@justwise, It's good to ask questions cos I never knew that having two marriage certificates is illegal in the UK.

Here in Nigeria, couple do marry traditionally, then proceed to court wedding, then summarize with white wedding. It's a norm here which I thought was OK.

Ladies in particular swear they must do white wedding even after they must have done trad and court wedding.

It's just societal influence and peer pressure, my intent is just to make my wife happy. That's why I asked if it was possible to do white wedding in UK, after we had wedded in court and done traditional rights in Naija.

Thanks for all inputs. We learn, unlearn and relearn!

Hello,

So I understood your question at the end of the day.

Some churches have the Nigerian coat of arms on their certificate and do not necessarily do a different registry marriage although documents will be filed in court.

It is good you want to make her happy, that's the right thing to do as a good man but do so with wisdom.

If I can advise, settle in at school and if UK is your Japa destination then try to settle down through other routes i.e PSW or Skilled workers visa after school. You need all the funds you can gather, every visa application requires funds nothing is free.

Then plan your vow renewal after 10years of marriage in the UK, that will be worth a party. She can wear her white and do Owambe

All the best

I'm in the same boat with the OP - considering submitting two accounts for POF.

However I came across the attached image saying UKVI only considered one of the accounts.

Not sure what to believe at this point.

Please advise.

Hello house...Please someone answer this

If it important to reveal your any visa refusal during PCI pre-cas interview.

Or

One should only reveal visa refusal during UKVI visa application..

Do not reveal for one and fail to reveal for the other (saying NO to one and saying YES to another - these people share info)
The choice to reveal or not to reveal is yours but ensure you have your refusal letters readily available (the school might ask to U upload)

African Man with inferiority complex, which White wedding again? you have your marriage properly documented by the registry here in naija, you had traditional right as well, what white wedding do you want again?
The wedding in England is to go to church with a few people and under few minutes it's all over and you will be issued a certificate or you go and register your wedding at government registry and be issued a certificate, within minutes you are done and back at home.
So wetin your wife want again?
