It would be nice to see Lampard survive relegation though but their remaining fixtures aren't friendly at all. Maybe some runs of draws and few losses would see Everton survive this.

Burnley still gets to play WestHam, Southampton, Wolves, Watford and Villa and I bet you, these 'easy' games are very tricky. They have the confidence and I hope they stay afloat.

The thing with Burnley’s fixtures is that they are “drawable”. The same can’t be said for Everton.

Ultimately, it all depends on the teams that has “less poor” results.

And who knows, Norwich might surprise us all. cheesy

I guess the referee and FA wanted to say the league run in was competitive. Liverpool got away with a lot yesterday especially Thiago and Fabinho

There was a foul on Thiago before his tackle which the ref rightly blew for and not Liverpool's fault the ref didn't see the fabinho tackle,I mean similar tackles has been missed before by the refs even in UCL as well especially Pickford on vvd which ruled him out for the season moreover ßilva completed the match but agenda no go let you see road

Please what is JORDAN HENDERSON goof at

Press, passion, intensity, can distribute the ball better than other Liverpool midfielders except Thiago (Milner,Chamberlain,Keita,Jones),on his day which is rare,he can give defence splitting passes out of nothing like he gave to Diaz first epl goal.....

It boils down to Liverpool's lack of quality in midfield

If the ref did not see the tackle, then what is the essence of VAR? Is VAR not there to show what the ref cannot see?

The ref missed Sterlings offside goal and the VAR called him back but the same VAR did not see Fabinhos tackle

Silva completing the match does not make any difference. Bottom line is Fabinho committed a red card offence and he didn't get carded
Thiago committed multiple fouls and only got one yellow

Did you say this when vvd was injured by Pickford for the rest of the season as well, with not even a yellow card or pk which gave advantage to city last season....

We all know fernandinho is the master of the dirty acts,he can commit 10 fouls in a match with no cards.....have you ever cried about that?

When Pickford injured VVD, VAR reviewed it and said VVD was already offside

Silva was not offside, Fabinho did not get anything on the ball and was left on the field

Fernandinho has gotten his share of punishments, he pulls but doesnt attempt to break peoples ankles like Fabinho did yesterday

Yes he should. He is the second best person for that left wing back after chiwell. I was against TT dropping alonso in the Madrid game. He provides more attacking option compared to any other player in that wing. How many times did azpilicueta get into the opposition's box when he played left wing back??
Tomorrow's game should be full attack from Chelsea.
James, kante, kova, alonso
Mount
Havertz Lukaku
Werner in place of Lukaku for pressure on Real Madrid’s defense.

He is doing all of that but consistent at it is the ish here and it’s due to age and experience.

Cancelo was offside for the corner that led to City's second goal..
Var didn't check it but awarded City the corner... Salah's ball that was ruled a goal kick despite Var clearly seeing it was a corner after checking for handball...
Fabinho saw only a yellow because his foot was mainly on the ground....

It mainly check goals and fouls

Lol. I think you guys should know the work of Var. I mean, what Var have authority to check out and what they don't have authority on.

If ref didn't award a corner kick/throw-in correctly, Var don't have the authority to check and correct it.

Var only checks red card fouls, penalties foul/handball, offsides or any wrong situation that the sequence directly leads to goal.

Any other thing no concern Var, so your examples no concern Var at all.

You said they check wrong situations that lead to goals...
City scored from a corner, a corner that shouldn't have been given because Cancelo was offside...
If the ball wasn't deflected for the initial offside and City scored, it would have prompted them to check and give the offside,l(I understand perfectly).I'm just that considering Liverpool plays the highest defensive line in England, saying offside decisions shouldn't be called because they weren't goals just works against us...
Think of it this way, Sterling scored but was ruled offside, assuming his shot was parried by Allison for a corner, and they then score from that corner, would it suddenly make Sterling onside...

Doesn't need to check, but it already checked for the handball and the ball deflecting off the thigh was glaring..A goal kick shouldn't have been given... Silva also escaped a yellow..

Silva fouled and got his deserved yellow. Fabinhos tackle was a red card offence and he escaped it

They checked for handball and saw that it was not a handball

His boot was on the ground...A red card would have been the wrong call.. If anything, Thiago should have seen a red but he got fouled earlier..

It wasn't a handball, but they saw a corner on screen, what stopped Taylor from giving the corner then?
For all we know, we could have scored from the that particular corner...

Now you get it.
If Allison had parried the ball to corner kick, it means the ball is out of play and that's another sequence. So once play is restarted (which is corner kick), if Man city eventually scored from that said corner kick then it's a Goal.

Same way Var would have called for offside if cancelo scored directly from that his initial offside position

Now example of wrong situation that leads to go is this .. Assuming the ball went out for a throw-in but let's say Arnold brings it quickly into the field of play(without having a throw-in), then refree (who didn't know that ball went out) still allowed play to go on and then Liverpool scored through that resulting attack. In that case, Var would call and overrule the goal.

I know this, that's why I asked the question...I'm saying considering that Liverpool's greatest strength is quickly transitioning from defense to attack, the highline is integral to how we play and not calling offside decisions that lead to set pieces or throw ins is inimical to our play...
City got about 3-4 throws in our half from offside plays, I'm sure you saw all these but everyone is hung up on Fabinho not getting a red for what was clearly a yellow..

Klopp was notably angry at this in-match when he said "what's wrong with your flag", referring to the lines man letting play go on for obvious offsides...I thought the rule was to let play go on when the Offside call is tight and not the other way round...
Anyway, what's done is done, I'm done...
On to the next match...

Var checked for handball not for corner kick. They Just told Taylor their own jurisdiction which was "no handball". Yeah, there's high probability you guys might have scored from the corner but that's not Var area to talk on, that's the work of the ref. So if ref makes a mistake there, it has nothing to do with Var.

Same way if a player dives outside the box and his teammate scores through the resulting direct free kick, the goal will stand but if same player dives inside the box, Var will look into it since that's a penalty decision (Var area)
