Hello house,
I need help with accommodation in Loughborough from May 2. I am willing to pay any reasonable amount as it will be cheaper than hotel/airbnb. Any location from Loughborough to Nottingham will be fine.

I don’t know why I’m just seeing this. You are a lifesaver, thank you very much penury.smiley I’ll send you an email if I need help. Cheers

penurypredator:

Can you try out Aqua and capital one.
I got a phone contract 4 months after I got to the UK and i got Aqua credit card like 14 months after I’ve been here(1yr+). Got Aqua and capital one about the same time. Capital one gave me £200 limit and Aqua gave me £1200 but they’ve recently increased my limit to £2600.
Up till now, clear score doesn’t even display anything as regards to my credit score but this credit karma app works for me.
But the interest rate on my Aqua was like 53% and capital one is like 49% I’m not sure about the exact percentage because I pay my full balance by direct debit so I’m unbothered about the interest rate.
Credit karma kept on displaying that my credit score is excellent and I never paid attention to it until this Amex card came up in the group.
Also I think the app you use to check your credit score might be of help in some way because credit karma was helpful to me and last week, some weird app called “credability” was telling me my score was 214 out of 700 whereas credit karma was saying I had a 640 out of 700.
Sorry it’s a long read but I was worried many months back as well so hopefully this helps in some way.

solo riders no get speed measuring equipment. they are mostly fitted in vans/suvs/estates.

the fixed ones must are dummies + we have waze.

NB

its not that i am doing 107 up and down the motorway. my normal resting speed on CC is 75/80. i push 90 if occassionally.

on the captured day above boys who where unfamiliar with my driving history (in naija car no they pass me or my siblings, not due to dangerous driving oh, we just fast resting speed na 160. my top speed was 190-200. good ol days) were egging me on, so i gave them a taste so they can forever keep mute.
By default every police mounted cameras can read your speed and number plates and all details attached to its marker. Police use Black Cabs as well.So one should just hope they aint in front of one of those PC cars.

Thank you so much for the response. I really appreciate it.

This post is just to say thank you to everyone that come here to give advice, share information and basically render support when required. In January a couple of you guys started discussing about how to get a property , that was when it occurred to me that have been dashing landlord money for too long oh.

Anyways I contacted a mortgage advisor ( recommended on one of the Facebook groups for first time buyers), explained my situation, to her and she worked out how much lenders would be willingly to offer me as mortgage amount. That’s how I started looking for property o, kitty kitty I chatted an OG in the game @lexusgs430 who broke everything down properly and basically encouraged to go ahead and also try other lenders to see if i could get more (worst case will be No abi but nothing spoil).

The hustle to find a house within my affordability was another thing, houses don’t even last on the market ( single applicant with two kids, husband in Nigeria).

Anyway I got lucky, someone’s sale fell through , reserved the property 19th of February and got my keys April 1st. My tenancy contract ends 12th May but I am super happy I got the property on lock down, my landlady has put her house on the market so yeah talk about “timing”.

Thank you guys so much for always sharing your experience. Just generally thankful as that is one less thing to worry about.

Shout out to my girl @Mimzyy❤️. Thanks for always cheering.

Owning your property is good, but on the flip-side, ensure all credit facilities, are paid (secured or unsecured)......

If you refuse to pay, eventually your creditors would CHARGE IT TO YOUR PROPERTY, with extra charges......

Yes it is misuse of data because I have no record of me giving them my LinkedIn profile as I’ve never applied for a job with them. I’ve done tests on GDPR at my job and this is a clear breach. I’ve been advised to file a formal complaint on record with them which I’ve done and then report them to the appropriate bodies or speak to a lawyer if they fail to take action. I would rather do the former and some social media posts as you have mentioned. Thanks

I might not know much about UK laws and this very issue but with my knowledge of how fraud team operates (from an AML specialist point of view) the first time your transaction declined, your attempted transaction might have been flagged in their own system and I'm guessing someone on the fraud team did what we call "internet search" on your full details. This internet search probably redirected them to your linked in page and even other platforms where your name is uniform, but it was easy for you to only discover LinkedIn search cause of how LinkedIn works.

My point is, you might have a point but at the same time just like someone earlier pointed out, the employee might be well covered for following the Google search that took him/her to your page and don't be surprised a customer agent you spoke with might not have the knowledge of what fraud team is capable of.

Any info shared on a public forum has become public property and most times isn't covered by 3rd party data privacy laws.

My sister works in the Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU) of a FinTech in Europe. She said and I quote - once you see any transaction that could be flagged as fraudulent, there is no limit of what publicly available information (LinkedIn, FB, Twitter, Instagram etc.) to check so as to mitigate the risk as long as the info is used solely for that purpose and nothing else. Once a transaction failed security check, they go all out. The ideal thing is to pause that payment channel till it is certified ok by the FPU and before it is certified, DD must me carried out.

The OP can file a case which is well within his/her rights, but a FPU officer will squash it within 5 mins. There is no discrimination in Fraud Prevention (her words).

God bless your sis! Biko please can I meet her? I need assistance from someone already in the field to put me through how to navigate landing job in this field in FinTech start up or FI as I have same background and coming in September grin

I promise you I'm not "that" troublesome grin

HELP! I just read on the uk immigration site that Freelancing is not allowed for people with a student visa (tier 4). Please does anyone know if they enforce this and how? I have fairly successful gigs on Upwork and fiverr and I'm curious as to if this would count as self-employment/freelancing and what will happen if I'm discovered to be earning money on these platforms while studying? THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES

I don't know what upwork or fiver is however

Freelancing counts as self employed and is specifically forbidden in student T4 visa. It is not allowed, so you would be breaking the terms.... you need to thread careful, if found this can turn out to be trouble trouble

Hi guys, I have been assigned a 3 year CoS and my employer agreed to certify my maintenance so i don’t have to use my bank statement when applying for visa.

My annual salary (gross) as stated in my CoS is just a little above £28,000 per annum but they have stated that the immigration surcharge for the three years (£1092) will be deducted from my salary with an agreement.

I am not sounding greedy but is it right as there were no prior discussion regarding this, I was only told after my CoS was assigned.

What type of job is this ?.... morally employer suppose to cover all cost , at the minimum you should have been told before cos.

However the streets are not playing . Home offices charges are so much that employers are coming up with all manner of tricks to cover the cost. Some are putting in the contract that you pay xx amount if you leave before.
