First of all, read up on the 1st Gulf War. Yes Iraq had the 4th Largest Army, but look up who the had to face. The US led Coalition wasn't just the USA alone. It included the full military might of the USA, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Isreal just to name a few.Equally throw in UN Sanctions. There was absolutely Iraq, who btw fought a stalemate war with Iran, would have survived talkless of win the war.

Second, despite all it's revealed flaws, this is Russia we're talking about.
