I have a question that has been bothering me.
Who or what shareholder controls Afriland Properties plc [NASD OTC]?
There is no shareholder that owns up to 5% of the outstanding shares but the board and executive management is made up of former Heirs holdings or uba related people?

Afriland was spun off from UBA. It happened during the spin off of APR and United Capital from UBA

IF YOU BUY US STOCKS FROM CHAKA, TROVE ETC WILL YOUR NAME BE ON THAT COMPANY'S SHAREHOLDER Register?

The answer is yes. You are a full shareholder with your name in the shareholders register and you will receive all communication that goes to any shareholder.

This clarication became necessary as there was a mis information by someone at NSEMPA (Nigeria Stock Market forum, Nairaland) sometimes ago. This is wrong information. I have been receiving meeting notices and I even got a mail sent to my house address for the SHLX shares I bought (and have sold) , telling me that no tax was removed from my dividend then.

So please let us get it right. If you buy US stocks through any of the platforms, you are a shareholder registered in the books of the company, your share will never be in the name of the Stockbrokers, even if you buy options it will still be in your name!!! Below is a meeting notice received recently and I have been receiving a lot of them recently (just like Nigeria, many of the UDS stocks have Dec as their year end).

We are dimistifying investing in the US stock market. There is plenty money in investing in US stocks!!! .

I am always looking forward to each trading day with joy as there are bountiful opportunities. But, we need to follow someone that can show us the way. One of the ingredients that enhance our success is that we flow along the market on performing sectors at every point in time.

You can check some of our recent posts on Twitter. When market opens on Monday one of the stocks on our warcj list will be- OIS .

And the most consistent, he has been on the billionaire list for about 35 years. He must be doing something right.

Majority of the current billionaires about 80% of them won't be on the list in the next 10 years and they will be out of the list for good

To imagine that he has given 50% of his wealth to charity is intriguing.

And that is one aspect of him I personally find impossible to emulate, talking about living a very moderate life style e.g using a same car for many years, living in same house for over 35 years etc.

It is a definite hell NO for me, though not intended to ostentate but to at least be able to enjoy the best of what I have worked for, that my money can buy.

I think he has a good risk management policy. Shares certificates represents ownership in a business and not a lottery ticket. He is a consistent. He is a value Investor. He should be the billionaire with the highest amount of liquid cash on the Forbe list.

He is a very good investor.
In some of his earlier stock market trades he made more than 1000% return on some particular shares.

From the books I have read, he invests in businesses he has no plans on selling at all. Business with long term value, cash flow, etc. In one of his letters, he stated that he invests in businesses such that even if there is no stock exchange to see the price of the company, he is not worried. With this mindset, he does not look for quick gains by buying and selling, but rather he looks for companies with good track record of performance and long term potential, buy and hold for as long as possible.

NIGERIA STOCKS ON OUR WATCHLIST- WILL UPDATE FURTHER
Another new week starting. On the Global stock side, energy or generally commodity related stocks are doing fine. It seems this theme is about to spread to the Nigeria market. Theses are some stocks on our watchlist today/for the week (will be updating further): UBA, TRANSCORP, SEPLAT.......... etc.

Come to think of it, can the energy crisis, bring back the Foreign Portfolio Investors to Nigeria ? It is possible!!! We want to get the facts, but will just be for our subscribers only (we are sorry for this, the effort involved will not justify making it free for all).

We can be your mentor plus get all our daily stock picks/tips. For details send "NIGERIA STOCKS" to WhatsApp @ +2348023054935
