MOST DEVELOPED STATE IN NIGERIA 2022:



1. Lagos State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. Of the 36 states, it is both the most populous and smallest in area.

Lagos is the biggest metropolitan area in Africa and has made a name for itself as a tech hub rapidly advancing towards a 24-hour economy, generating 10% of Nigeria's total GDP of $432.3 billion.



Lagos tops as the most developed state in Nigeria and also one of the richest states in the country.

Most commercial and financial business is carried out in the central business district situated on the island.

2. Anambra State



Anambra State is a Nigerian state, located in the southeastern region of the country. According to the 2006 census report there are over 4.1 million residents in the state.

Anambra state is another rich state with a very low poverty rate in the country.

The major cities in the state where business thrives are mostly at Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, the state capital.



The state has a slogan “Light of the nation“ and development in this state since it was founded was so rapid compared to any other state in Nigeria.

The state is blessed with expensive and valuable natural resources like crude oil, natural gas, bauxite, ceramic, and many more.

3. Rivers State



Rivers State, also known as Rivers, is a state in the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria.

Located in the South-south region of the country, Rivers is one of the oil producing states in Nigeria with many top oil and gas companies operating there. Also, the state’s GDP which stands at $21,073 billion makes her one of the richest states in the country.



. Abia State



Abia State is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by the states of Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi, Imo State to the west, Cross River State to the east, Akwa Ibom State to the southeast, and Rivers State to the south.

Abia state is also an oil producing state that has experienced a lot of benefits from the oil and gas sector which accounts for 36% of the state’s GDP.


Representing 27% of the GDP, agriculture which employs 70%of the state workforce- is the second economic sector of Abia.

With its adequate seasonal rainfall, Abia has much arable land that produces yams, maize, potatoes, rice, cashews, plantains, taro, and cassava.

5. Enugu State



Electricity supply is relatively stable in Enugu and its environs. The Oji River Power Station (which used to supply electricity to all of Eastern Nigeria) is located in Enugu State.

Every community in Enugu State has at least one Primary/Elementary school and one Secondary school, funded and run by State Government. There are also large numbers of private.



Nigeria's first indigenous university, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) is located in Enugu State.

Within Enugu, you would notice that basic amenities, electricity, city, and infrastructures aren’t lacking there.

Enugu has been tagged as one of the most peaceful states in the country due to the state government investing heavily in security to ensure that residents within the state are been protected at cost.

What is your yard stick for measuring development?

A lot of Nigerians only measure development by how beautiful their homes are.

the truth is development is measured base on the accessibility to basic infrastructures such as good roads, hospitals, security, general mobility system, economic development etc.


kindly show us the yardstick used in arriving this conclusion
