IDeyNL:I would have seconded your opinion whole-heartedly about 2 to 4 years ago. And it's actually the decent thing to do. But I now want GEJ to join APC and declare. Reason is that I don't want any desperados who betrayed GEJ and entire South, condemned his tough fight against Boko and organised paid protesters to oppose subsidy removal to now come and benefit. GEJ should come and ruin their selfish life-long ambition. Even if he doesn't win. If it means power staying in the North, let it be. After all it is those with "life-long ambition", even if to the detriment of 9ja and the South who robbed South and took it to the North prematurely. GEJ can always return to PDP after that if he chooses. People who see being gentle as foolishness need to be shown pepper now and then. No mercy. Simple. 1 Like |

trutharena: Keep quite So Tinubu supported Jonathan in 2011 just when Yardua died but why didn't they continue the support in 2015? Was buhari better than a Southern candidate for the job then. You then went ahead to say he sideline Yorubas yet he GEJ fought to make a Yoruba speaker of House of Representatives but Tinubu used his influence to support Tambuwal so that it will look like sideline...all this are in Akande book. Please you people are betrayal and the north instead of supporting you guys for your betrayal they are still searching for candidate from the places you guys betray. Just wait a while if APC don't give the tickets to the south south or south west they are going to loose 1 Like |

Those saying if Jonathan contest will not win don't know jack. The north want the quickest way to power and they will support him know that it will only last for 4years. If obj became president without the vote of south west in 1999 he Jonathan can do the same. The north is already short charge since 1999 in power. Obj did 8years Yardua did 2years Jonathan did 6years Buhari let say doing 8years Which means south is ahead with 4years and another southern will make it 12years. And understanding that the north central and north east and south west are the region that is yet to produce president they will prefer Jonathan than any candidate so those saying he won't win don't know jack. GEJ is just be uninterested in going back 1 Like |

Asgard73: We know that wailers are after the head of Tinubu for helping to oust their master who believes that stealing is not corruption. That’s why Dieziani stole billions and he condoned it, because he didn’t see it as corruption. But Tinubu has no regrets for removing the clueless leader. It’s part of the grand plan to enthrone the one who the cap fits. And there’s no one else among those junketing round the country now than Tinubu. 1 Like 1 Share |

emmykk:Because they thought that being gentle means stupidity. Cunning self-acclaimed sophisticated lot believe that others are not wise. They thought GEJ would do their bidding. Lifelong ambition man supported GEJ to protect his family oil and gas business and share of oil subsidy robbery. He duped Ribadu into being ACN presidential candidate but worked against Ribadu and his own party to protect personal interest. Is such a duplicitous individual the best to be Nigerian president? People mumu never do. When GEJ dared to suggest oil subsidy removal (their daylight highway robbery business), they turned against him. |

IDeyNL: The SW purveyors of this narrative that Jonathan's acceptance of this present APC offer will amount to betrayal of the South appear to me as very ill-informed and unintelligent section of the SW. However, the records need to be set straight once and for all about this issue of SW betraying Jonathan. In 2011, the entire South and Middle Belt voted for Jonathan with an unprecedented massiveness in the history of Nigeria, and once Jonathan was declared winner of that election the Core North broke into violent demonstrations killing whoever they perceived as traitors among them for supporting Jonathan against their son Buhari. But on assumption of office, Jonathan pursued the interest of the Core North at the detriment of the SW and Middle Belt especially. He nearly practically abandoned the SW in terms of appointments and projects. He disappointed the Middle Belt with his body language on state police and other agitations by which the Middle Belt people would have lawfully taken into their hands their destiny on the insecurity ravaging them courtesy of Fulani herdsmen menace from the Core North. Even a SS state like Edo got nothing from Jonathan despite championing the media and publicity aspect of the struggle that finally culminated in Jonathan's presidency. All these bred discontent for which these sections of the country felt betrayed hence chose to cut their pound of flesh in 2015 as Jonathan's presidency came to represent the interest of the Core North which never wanted him there in the first instance. If Jonathan were a shrewd politician and therefore reinforced and sustained the Southern/Middle Belt solidarity which brought him to power, it would have been the beginning of the end of the Northern Oligarchy's grip on power and might have gone a long way to finally amicably address the perennial Igbo vs Yoruba antipathy which the North harvests to remain dominant. But his waste of such golden opportunity to solidify the much needed unity of the South and Middle solidarity much needed for the achievement of the Nigeria of our dreams made the Middle Belt and SW vote against him in 2015. Igbos had nearly all the juiciest position in his government hence their solidarity for him was understandable. His being from the SS also explained why they stuck to him despite all he was doing against their interest. So how come only the SW is now being accused of betraying Jonathan when the middle belt also made a U-turn against him in 2015? Then the Amaechi who openly fought him from his own SS region, hence the biggest betrayer, is now being favoured for presidency by some very folks fighting Tinubu for the same crime Amaechi is guiltier of? 5 Likes 1 Share |

byrron: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() GEJ would be very correct to do just that. But 9ja masses have been battered, bruised and impoverished by dictators, supersonic grade corruption and rot for decades. Most are easily manipulated and gullible. Add ethno-religious sentiments to the mix. GEJ would probably join them only if made a consensus candidate. He won't like to do rofo-rofo/mud fight primaries with agbero calibre lot in that party. |

buckeyemedia: Well, thats your insignificant opinion here on NL which you and I are very much entitled to but the owner's of Nigeria that ain't here on NL want's him. Hope you are old enough to know that a few people have been the one's deciding who becomes the president of Nigeria even before the elections? Once that group annoint a presidential candidate, the presidential election becomes a mare formality. If you know this about your country Nigeria then you won't be making comments as if your opinion nor mine here on NL matters on the scheme of things as far as who gets the anointing to becomes the presidential candidate of the owner's of Nigeria that are both foreign and domestic. |

If he declares under APC, he can kiss whatever is left of his reputation goodbye. Maybe he doesn't know how bad the image of the APC is currently. Even me that was a staunch supporter of GEJ, will not support him under APC. He should just relax and play the role of an elder statesman and allow other people. Nigeria is so bad now and I don't envy those contesting for president cos they are likely going to pick a job they would not succeed in. Too many things have gone wrong under buhari and I don't see the magic anyone wants to bring that would correct these wrongs in 8 years. |
