What happened to Siemens.,GE during the Privatization scheme? Guess they were schemed out of things. Nigeria would have vastly improved in electricity supply by now.. almost a decade 53 Likes 4 Shares |

Benin City, the Edo State capital is in perpetual darkness, I mean perennially. This has profound effects on the State in terms of productivity. Imagine a genuine startup entrepreneur running generators at home, office 95% of the whole year!!! 4ckyou: You may be located in areas benefitting from special grids eg Okada has its own power station (a private setup) and there are areas that benefit from it as its transmission lines run into the city. In GRA, only a few streets enjoy fairly good power supply. Ugbor GRA axis - 3 hours on, 3 hours off at best! Off Airport road, Iyekogba Estate and beyond, with the rest of the 90% of Edo, darkness!!! 18 Likes 2 Shares |

treesun:Of course he Fashola will perform a miracle, just what you Nigerians always expect, & fix property that belongs to other people? 7th November 2013, we were made to believe the future will be alright & bright, well today is the future no electricity, PHCN privatization the biggest pdp scam. Jonathan & pdp sold your electricity infrastructure to quacks, do not expect any electricity in future. Don’t blame me, just name just one reputable company that purchased any of your electricity infrastructure from pdp? 33 Likes 2 Shares |

buckeyemedia: Your eyes are always buckled with lies. Ask yourself, all the major actors that made the decisions, where are they now, APC! I just look at the reasonings of many of you. The agreement Buhari had with Siemens and you are all celebrating, what has come out of it! 34 Likes 2 Shares |

treesun:Whether APC or pdp that is your business, do not expect electricity, November 7th 2013 Jonathan mortgaged your electricity infrastructure to quacks for 25 years. The Federal Government Claim they don’t have the $12 billion dollars to renege from the Agreement. If Mumu Jonathan had gone to companies like ESKOM, Siemens GMBH in 2013, like President Buhari did in 2020, you would be singing a different tune today. Jonathan messed you up, a bad tree can never yield good fruits, enjoy your privatization. What was the track record of people like the Osibudus & Ayenis, late Captain Hosa in electricity before distribution companies were sold to them? 25 Likes 1 Share |

In other words, distribution companies don't have money to buy more energy from the generating companies. Why is it so? Two reasons that comes to mind are 1. People using free electricity cause of by-pass(illegal tapping of electricity) 2. Estimated billing, when you bill people more than what they used, they won't be able to pay, overtime, they have too much unpaid accumulated bills. 19 Likes 1 Share |

Privatisation is never a solution. Sadly our incompetent rulers already sold us the lie. And the masses bought the lie. Nothing we change until we hold our office holders accountable for their actions and inactions Modified : See take it or leave it. Privatization of critical infrastructure is bad for any society. Reason we must hold office holders accountable. Private individuals are only interested in profit and as far as they can make profit while selling darkness they're cool. We like to copy rubbish. In 2005, Australian government wanted to sell its stake in Snowy hydro an Energy generating and retailing company and there was a massive public outrage. The government had to cancel the planned sale and until today the company has been growing massively. We cant continue to sell our national assets. Nigerians must hold its leaders accountable. Saudi Aramco, Sinopec Group, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, PEMEX, PETRONAS, National Iranian Oil Company; these are all government owned and they're in control of energy in the world. We must not shy away from taking responsibility over our years of silence while the country is run to the ground by unpatriotic elements. Filthy politicians that sell us short for kick backs. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Essentially, the DISCOS are not making enough money from end users to pay for excess power 1.Cost of power is too low due to tarrifs being kept below the cost of production(and the subsidy paid cannot cover the losses...even with subsidies, DISCOS still need an extra trillion naira) 2.30% of subscribers do not even pay for the power they use...government, rich and poor. At the end, DISCOS have to reject power, or go into more debt. Nigeria has to pay for power at the market price for all this to end. You want power, then pay the money for it. 9 Likes |
