Lol grin. I remember how I worked as a teacher in 2020 after the lockdown. I'd lost my job before the lockdown.

The proprietress did the unthinkable. She left us all in shock when she arranged for a meeting with teachers at the end of the term.

At the meeting, she said she was not going to pay us for December as we go for Christmas break until we resume by middle of January. My brother,I almost ran mad.

The stupid woman was actually telling us this three days to Christmas. Some female teachers begged and cried but it fell on deaf ears.

Inside my mind the woman didn't know that behind my gentleness is some touches of craze. So,as a gentleman, I decided to approach her after the meeting and asked for at least a loan of #5,000 to at least give my woman for Christmas.

She agreed to loan me and asked me to come to school the following day. I became a bit relieved and left for home. I came to school the following day and met the school gate locked and then I called the proprietress only for her to tell me she'd travelled.

That was where I felt i'd had enough of it. I left the stupid school without notice and let them have the one month salary. As soon as the next term began, the proprietress husband who comes to the school from time to time started calling me.

To cut the story short, this man saw me on the road one day and then parked his car. He started swearing that I was the reason his school was going down. He even threatened to beat me up. Aaah! That was where my head scattered. "In my area",I responded. "You will not leave here the Same way you came",I responded.

The man quickly turned on his car and drove off. God really saved him maybe I could have done the needful and then report myself at the police station. grin

I always laugh each time I remember that encounter.

It's obvious you wanted to collect December salary and leave...

I don't support the owner of the school, but some employees like OP deserve what he got.

The standard procedure for leaving a job is to give atleast two weeks notice to the management. But many of you will collect salary at the end of the month and disappear without notice...

Put yourself in their shoes.

Modified:
All of you quoting me with negative remarks are madt and jobless. I pray you start your own business and see the wickedness of some workers, but I know all of you cannot afford to start a business, reason why you are madt.

Standard procedure? Are the owners of the school following standard procedure in treating staff members? Do they deserve to be treated following standard procedure?

The reason why most collect their hard earned money and leave without notice is because where they work isn't actually work but slavery. Do you have any idea what happens in private schools?

Most school owners treat their workers like trash because they know there are armies of unemployed.

Why will any reasonable employer refuse to pay December salary until January when we know December is very important?

Some places of work will even give you December bonus while the one like OP will rather make their December miserable.

That employer deserve what he got.

That's not any excuse for a staff to break work ethics, it's even the more reason for you to tender a resignation letter as stipulated in your offer letter.

I have worked severally in many organizations, but I still maintain cordial relationship with all of them, even the ones that treated me badly.

Do your part even if your employer is not doing his/her part.

My "Embarrassment" story from employer will be a bit different.

1. She is bi-sexual, but tends towards lesbianism and/or self service more. I got to know these by chance (Bursted into her office once without knocking. Till I left the organization, she never knew I saw the d.ildo)
2. I was the only man in the organization. According to her, she hates working with men.
3. At a point, her dad (the Chairman) started trusting my judgement over hers. I was next to her, so she said it angrily to my face that I cannot take the position of MD from her (as if na my papa company)
4. Funny thing is, throughout the Covid lockdown, there was not a work day I didn't go to the office, from Ikotun to Lagos Island o, all because she insisted I must always come. Just me and one other junior staff. She wasn't even coming to the office herself o!!!
5. At a point we were at loggerheads, she asked me to resign. I didn't budge. She terminated my appointment and refused to let me withdraw my salary.
6. She sent an email to me on why she is not entitled to pay me, and out of annoyance, I corrected the grammatical blunders and spelling errors in her mail, and sent it back to her.
7. After a month of argument on why she can't withold my salary, I requested for my statement of account.
8. A staff told me that my account has been closed. That was when I threatened to expose some things to CBN.
8. She paid me pronto!!!

Addendum***

I forgot to add. I work in a bank. A microfinance bank. Now you know what "Reporting to CBN" will mean to her. Need I say much?

My sugar daddy then get jealous because I dumped his fucken ass and dilapidated body to a more young and rich dude, and he tries to embarrassed me by collecting the car he got me, the next two days after collecting the 2010 model Toyota Corolla, I got myself 2018 model Lexus 350. He ended up so embarrassed and so pained.

im about to embarrass one today for failing to return properties of the company (phone and ID card) even after several calls to him...

I dont think a former employer will embarrass you for no reason unless you have their property which you havent returned or didnt follow a standard procedure which must have affected their operations

I don't think any employer of mine will think of that. They usually try to get me to change my mind. Be the best at what you do and your employer will grab at anything to keep you. Some will be kinder to you, hoping to get you back someday.
My experience.

You are right; I also support doing things the right way. However, my point is that it is wrong everywhere in the world for an employer to withhold an Employee's salary just because of fear of the employee not giving notice before resignation.

Where did she expect them to get funds for the Yuletide. An Employer that was supposed to even pay earlier than usual in December, An Employer that was supposed to pay 13th Salary/Christmas bonus, An employer that was supposed to share food items/ Chicken to staff members

Some people are not kind ( we have them everywhere) but it's worse to have such wicked people in Leadership positions like the useless Proprietor
