Pls gurus in the house..I notice a strange noise whenever I start my car every morning so I call my mechanic and he said my car crankshaft is damaged and I have to replace it
And he said before it can be replace the engine will be dropped
So I was wondering if it’s safe to replace the crankshaft without damaging the engine or is it time for a new engine?

Cheap Option: replace crankshaft.
Expensive Option: replace engine.

Cheap option: engine must be dismantled. What was the cause of the engine failing, any oil short? Do the car smoke? That your engine will be pricey

Car does not smoke ..car works fine except for the strange noise
Yes the engine is very very pricey
But I’m scared that this change of crankshaft will make me spend more on the car

If your mech is well experienced in 2gr. Its doable, most expensive engine are rebuilt. Just get a couple-back crankshaft with bearings

Please let your ride be examined by a mechanic that knows what he's doing before changing anything. Seek 2nd opinion

Same here, rebuilt my hilux 2tr-fe. Cost me 300k, still running great after 2years. Toks engine is 1.6M

High rev(redlining) engine causes destructive failures. Any mechanic high revving engine at idle , jappa ooo

Pls explain what you mean by over revving

High rpm at idle or traffic,stepping on the accelerator to make that sports car sound at the exhaust,I did mine till 5000rpm,the car stalled and started again,6hours later. A knocking sound very loud,like metals and fire meeting each other.since then I no rev any car again. It was one useless power bike that intimidated me in traffic.

Why not,I forgot my foot on the accelerator for like 30seconds. Normally suppose to rev not more than 2000rpm and remove leg,but I did that for close to 30seconds thinking say na enjoyment. Na billings end am,after I first drove the car like that for 3days before I towed it to mechanic.
