With political season fully kicked off, its safe to say the Ebonyi airport will soon become another abandoned project. When we were praising Obiano for completing Anambra Airport and kicking off operations of the airport people thought it was an easy feat, not to mention the ICC which is now being used by the Soludo admin for important events including the just completed Executive council retreat. I hope the Soludo admin will build a 5 star hotel around the facility, complete the Awka mall and dualize roads around that areas with streetlights and flowers.

The Soludo admin' should look into this! It's annoying when the bleeding obvious has to be pointed out when supposedly there are people appointed/employed to take care of this sort of thing!

Please, everyone should do their job well and not have to wait until their shortcomings are pointed out on social-media before swinging in to action! The Governor has enough on his plate as it is without having to do the job of civil servants and appointees as well!

Eastern government is full of a lot of dummies. If you are doing waste management why drop large receptacles on roads? Lagos with its millions of people don't do it. Nor Abuja or Port Harcourt which generate far more waste. This stupid idea started with Sullivan Chime in Enugu who Obi now copied and the rest is history.

Soludo should go study how waste collection by private operators is done house to house while government collects waste tax and provides depots.

While they are at it, they better start tarring inner roads in cities.

The idea of placing steel dumpsters on major roads is archaic and should be stopped. Refuse should be collected house by house wrapped in plastic bags (waterproof bags) by private companies contracted by the state government. The people pay a very small monthly token for trash like 100 or 200 naira, while the state government subsidizes the rest. The resistance to adopting modern ways of doing things is the bane of the southeast. Everything must be done exactly how it was practiced in the 1950s.

By the way, the ONLY way that inner streets can be tarred is if Soludo finally figured out how to utilize direct labor in road building. Training Ministry of works staff to employ laborers to grade streets, build gutter, and apply concrete, interlocking or asphalt overlay is the ONLY way that Soludo can make any appreciable achievement on roads. Many governors hate this method because they cannot steal from the inflated contracts of construction companies. But it is the ONLY way to get many roads completed with the available resources.

Lots of modern estates springing up. Awka has the biggest real estate development in the east. Awka Millennium city has resumed work on AMC-2, after they sold out AMC-1.

in err streets in onitsha can be tarred.. When you tax every flat 15k in a particular street.. 4 storey will earn you 60k and if we 30 blocks in a street it is 1.8 million... That will be used to grade and tar a street then government can add small....

No, the ONLY way they can be tarred is by conducting local government elections and allowing the chairmen free hand to work. Most issues of waste disposal and inner roads can easily be fixed at the local govt level. Unfortunately, Anambra has not had a functioning local government system for many years now for whatever reason.

House to House refuge collection was part of Onitsha waste management until 1996/1997 when the whole process stop working!

Excellent update. It's refreshing to observe that the three super crash tenders made it safely to the airport! This brings the number of crash tender engines at the airport to a whopping five in number!

Now, only Nigerian politics is the obstacle to starting international cargo flights as authorized in the airport's construction permit.

Those who say Obiano did not work should cover their ugly faces. I am grateful that Obiano insisted on international best practices and
standards in all he did. As opposed to the typical southeast mentality of "managing" with second-hand equipment or even building an imitation crash tender "to save cost".

Nice to see the fire-trucks have finally arrived, and the fire station has been painted! All that’s left now are the avio-bridges and that damned landscaping! When will they get round to landscaping and beautifying in and around the airport premises!? Even the median of the airport road is still left bare!
