Nigeria very much does need an Air Defense System as every serious country does. Nigeria is surrounded by enemies wether we want to admit it or not. As for now Nigeria doesn’t really poses one.

Nigeria does not have strategic missiles.

Nigeria's air defense system consists of 9 F-7NI and 3 units of JF-17 multi role fighter jets.

If you are talking GBADS, Nigeria has a couple obsolete Rowland Air Defense Systems.

I know what I said and my original statement remains the same. Nigeria needs a descent multilayered Air Defense System. Considering Nigeria’s political and economic situation expecting to much or the most modern isn’t realistic but I consider this the bare minimum.

A more sophisticated radar array network straddling Nigeria’s land and sea borders; preferably of Russian origin to better link with what comes next. About a dozen S300 units and at least 4 Squadrons of JF-17 Thunder Block 2s. A healthy amount of portable infantry surface to air missile launchers like Stingers, Javelins, QWs, etc would be sprinkles on top.

Now obviously that want stop the most powerful nations around the globe but it will be a good deterrent for almost everyone else not to mention a good start for future improvement.

What Odunayaw said is applicable to everyone. People here fixate on the toys (s300, Patriot etc) and overlook systems.

How can you be seriously advising your fellow African man to go there and make money when people doing recruitment can't even afford a proper military wears for their available soldiers

But Canon fodders usually made up the infantry troops who are to work with artillery men, Tanks and other heavy equipments.
When those who are not battle strong received a boom, they will run and leave those professional equipment handlers at the mercy of enemy's ATGMS and firepower.

This above is just my reasoning... That's why I decided to ask the need for them.

I can’t find the article but I believe they wanted the Nigerian infantrymen to openly engage the enemy without cover drawing all there fire while the Italian infantry picked off the insurgents from a distance. Of course the African troops suffered more casualties. It was something like that my memory is fuzzy I’m sure someone will correct me.

Russians died all over Africa in the fight against colonialism, the us supported the apartheid sa, it's time for Africa to return the favor

Haven't heard of one that died for my country (Nigeria) so they should fight there battle
