A struggling family member reached out to us for financial help and we sent money to him through my sister. Out of his own carelessness or entitlement mentality he did not reach out to express gratitude. I got worried and called him, and he started lying that my sister told him that it was only her who sent the money. I called my sister and she sent me a voice recording and WhatsApp messages where she clearly stated that it was both of us. This is not the first time this man is doing this

His teenage kids have also started doing same. How do you handle such people in your life? They can ruin your relationship with others with lies. Imagine if my sister did not have a proof of that conversation

It depends on specifically what they do.

In some cases you should just cut them off. In others, set boundaries. In some situations where you can see they're not beyond help, help them stop unhealthy behavior.

I totally agree. Lord knows that I'll set boundaries if I find myself in such situation. If I'm doing something for/with them, then I just want to do it. OP, for his teenage children, you can try to help them unlearn, I hope they change.

I don set boundaries tire. You stay your own, they start calling and begging for help because they don burn bridges tire, you have pity and help, it turns to another wahala.

Yeah, I can relate. What I do is, I help if I can and ignore whatever attitude they put up afterwards. I have so much anxiety issues to deal with so I won't allow them add to it.

Its unfortunate. They have burnt many bridges. All they want is your money and the more they have it the more they continue with such unhealthy behavior.

It is such character of his that makes him to be struggling financially in the first place. Do not offer financial support to him ever again. He is evil and would not do the same dor you if the tables were turned
