To say "We have lost Tahir", This guy's death is very personal to the presidency. Infact, it's more personal than the deaths of the nigerians that died as a result of the bandits attack on a train in Kaduna a month ago. The nigerians that died in Kaduna & every other place in Nigeria due to insecurity are insignificant & just statistics adesina uses to compare whether more people died in Jonathan administration compared to buharis

Even though I get your drift on this your post. It is understandable with the situation Nigeria is in now. But this Tahir guy is more Nigerian than alot of us, he was a nice person. And through his investments in Nigeria and Kano in particular, he has raised and empowered thousands of Nigerians. His elderly , nice and philanthropic gestures will be missed. May Allah grant his soul peaceful and eternal rest

See the coons praying for the soul of Lebanese Massa

These are the people that dont think you are human enough. They dont pray in the same mosques with y'all even bury their dead in the same cemetry as y'all.

This was the same muthàfuckà I heard bribed the power officials to deny one community in Kano electricity so he can enjoy uninterrupted power.

Lies! Don't believe everything you hear. The residents in the street his hotel is located in all have access to uninterrupted power supply thanks to his Generating plants. Even Mai shayi dey enjoy free light there. Go and ask.

My brother, this is what leadership is in that country o. The hypocrisy, misplaced priorities, ethno-religious bigotry, pillage, pilfering, corruption and insecurities is out of this world.

Yea, it’s really a blessing returning to your creator on Friday as a practicing Muslim. Such a person would never be punished in his/her grave.

that religion, but our black brothers will never learn.
I believe so too. My uncle is neighbours with one Lebanese man in Kano. In the over 20 years I know the man I have never seen him pray with the muslims on that street even thoguh there is a mosque there. Even during friday prayers you will never see any arab praying together with the Hausas in the mosques. So much for unity in Islam

For those that allow it. Remember that Arabs dominated only the first 3 centuries of islamic power. The Persians supplanted them in administration and arts. Most of Islamic academic and cultural achievement is actually Perso-Islamic

The Turks took over military affairs. So that all the important mamluks and sultans from India to Egypt in the 2nd millennium were Turkic or Turkish.

In either of these countries today their culture dominates over Arabic and their most recent contact with Arabs is one of their own domination.

In black Africa it's different. But Senegal is bold. They head their own tariqas there. Literally with direct chain to the Prophet. Even distort many tenets for their own version grin. Like Muridiyas who perform pilgrimage to Touba and pray towards Gabon where their saint Murid was held by the French.

I'd say u consider that widespread Islam in Naija is new (outside of Kanem Bornu) so expect all these sorta things to prevail.

Allah dey expand graves too?
Hmm, just learned something new about your religion, yet again.
Ok, at least I have heard about Noor before now.
But expanding his grave might be like wasting space don't you think so? This one I'm hearing that accomodation is getting scarce underneath the earth, even amongst the dead. Some underground landlords are collecting upfront payment of two years kuma.
Anyway, ba na jin tsoro fa. If there is no more space, they can burn my body on the day of my final rights. Ba da mua.
think about your own death. It is not a matter to joke about.
Remember the day you will be buried and left alone in the dark hole. And that you will never come out of the grave until the day of judgement. Is this really something you are joking about?

No Arab is better than a non Arab, neither is a white better than a black, nor a free born better than a slave except in regards of his faith. Eeman is the defining feature of superiority in Islam. Whoever believes in Allah and the prophets, and the books, and the last day, and obeys him, enjoining good and preventing evil, is the better person irrespective of his descent, color, race, affluence, or strength

I don't think he is referring to the theological aspect of it. God's law is ultimately interpreted and administered by humans. So biases show.

Within the sociopolitical sphere of Islamic civilization, Arab-ness has always held a pride of place. Technically they aren't better than any other believer. But in reality features of that culture are regarded as proto Islamic and more favorable to copy or adopt. this is ofc tied to the language being the language of the Holy book. But it's been fetishized beyond faith.

For e.g. looking through history we see that in something like the hiring of qadis (judges), a super important function in most Islamicate societies, Arab-ness was considered perhaps unevenly against actual qualifications. And where they aren't Arab per se, they have been thoroughly Arabized (esp for North Africans, and Levantines).

Being "Arab" has been held as a badge of pride. You can read celebrated poetry from the likes of Al Mutannabi and see this same ethic.

A telling one is where Al Mutannabi berates Kafur Al Misk, the Nubian eunuch who ruled on behalf of the Ikhshidid sultans, for being a black gay in contrast with his supreme Arab-ness. Even though Kafur ruled Egypt and effectively fired him from his job. Kafur was his superior, but that didn't count to most of his celebrators.

During the Zanj revolt, the message thru out was rising against Arab oppression. Or even the same thing in the Zanzibar revolt of 64.

The issue is more to do with Islamicate societal structures. Not necessarily Islam itself I guess.

Everyone has his opinion. Do you know how many people he employs through his businesses, do you know how many Nigerians have gained through his scholarship and philanthropy. Do you know the people he feeds daily through his foundation. Someone that has been in Nigeria for over 60 years and doing business.
How do you ignore 60+ years of consistency. Say what you like , the man touched lives. What have you and others done. We can choose to be sentimental but I rate him alot more than most of our politicians. He was a good man who contributed his own quota to the development of his adopted country. You can attack the government for their condolence of this individual but don't make it look like the man was a complete nobody who doesn't deserve it. And yes I speak for myself with my full chest, You're entitled to your own view about him.
