Tinfoil:
From the recent conflicts around the world is it reasonable to conclude that there is no reason anymore to have manned fighter planes and attack helicopters?

Ka52 and su34 are on video being taken down in ukraine. Ah64 and f15 are also on video being taken out by houthis

One jet can buy many UAVs which can loiter longer and no crew is in danger

I think the role of the Attack Helicopter will be reduced following lessons learned from this war.

While UCAVs are important, I have not seen UCAVs provide CAS missions, this is the role where they cannot replace the attack helicopter.

The fact UCAVs are very easily replaceable is a significant advantage, however when facing an enemy with the means to bring down UCAVs, their capabilities are limited.

Unlike the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan where UCAVs played a very huge role, in the war in Ukraine, TB2s of the Ukrainian military are easily shot down. The overall effectiveness of the TB2 has been really diminished. Russian UCAVs have been more effective than Ukranian TB2 aircrafts. The most significant TB2 engagement in this conflict has been the ISR data provided during the attack of Russian helicopters in Kherson.

The most effective UAV in this conflict has been DJI drones acting as spotters for both sides.

While UCAVs are very important, they would not be able to replace Attack helicopters in certain roles.

When I talk now, the South Africans will start crying.

Army operations against ISWAP and related terror groups seems to be going really well.

NNS Kada would be in South Africa tomorrow.

I hope our South African colleagues would snap enough quality pictures of the majestic ship.

Even ISWAP didn't want to use the REVA in combat or repurpose it into an VBIED. grin

And yes, ops going really, really well across the entire theatre. NA and MNJTF are currently dominating

Indian Army inducts Bharat Forge Kalyani M4 Monocoque Hull Multi Role Mine Protected Armoured Vehicle in Pune

The Kalyani M4, which will be built at the company’s Pune plant, is a multi-role platform, designed to meet the requirements of the armed forces for quick mobility in rough terrain and in areas affected by mine and IED threats.

It has ballistic and blast protection from up to 50 kg TNT side blast, or IED or roadside bombs due to its design that is built on a flat-floor monocoque hull. With a thrust speed of 140 km per hour, the vehicle has a payload of 2.3 tonnes and an operating range of about 800 km.

The M4 is an original product of the South African arms firm Paramount Group but has been fine-tuned for Indian conditions by Bharat Forge.

The two firms have also signed a deal to join their technologies, capabilities and expertise to manufacture armoured vehicles in India.

Paramount Group said it wanted to position the M4 as the “future of protection” in all markets across the world.

Taking Cape Town is one of the possibilities we are exploring. grin grin grin

Restoring expeditionary capabilities, we used to operate NNS Ofiom and NNS Ambe, both LSTs were decommissioned 10 years ago.

We will order a second unit following the delivery of NNS Kada.

kabe1:
Some people have asked, why does the Nigerian Navy need a ship like this when we have a BHT and Bandit problem.

- First, the Nigerian Navy has always had heavy Sea lift capabilities, the ship is expected to restore our Sea lift capability, and the Navy's ORBAT.

- The Nigerian military's recent military deployment to Gambia showed a major flaw in our response capability, while we rapidly deployed nearly 800 men to Senegal, we could not send in any armour. With a ship like this we would be able to rapidly supply men and armour, APCs, Tanks, IFVs and MRAPs where and when we need them.

- Humanitarian capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force has flown thousands of hours of humanitarian flights in the last 10 years. NNS Kada allows Nigeria to deploy massive humanitarian aid to countries across Africa in much, much larger volumes.

- Gunboat diplomacy, the presence of NNS Kada can help deter conflict in the region. It is also a piece of floating Nigerian culture.
