battle for the signature of 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei is heating up with more clubs joining the race for the attacking midfielder's services. According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and Fulham are prepared to battle Crystal Palace for the talented Derby County teenager in the summer transfer window. German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are monitoring the situation of the Arsenal academy product, and he's also drawing interest from Club Brugge in Belgium. Ebiowei has entered the final two months of his contract with relegated Derby County and is unlikely to extend his stay at the Pride Park Stadium, considering that the Rams have been placed into administration for more than seven months and cannot offer new deals to players. The 18-year-old made an impression after he was promoted to Derby County's first team in the second half of the season, scoring one goal and assisting two others in fifteen appearances. Before joining Derby County last September, Ebiowei was on the books of Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers. He trained with the Golden Eaglets in Turkey before the 2019 U17 World Cup and was selected in Nigeria's provisional squad for the tournament in Brazil. 4 Likes |

TheLoneCitizen: Misrepresentation and misinformation using statistics to create a convulated Idea that a player is much better than he is. FACT - In the 2021/22 season KC has played 24 games and scored 4 goals. You really cannot dress this up ,it's simply abysmal and very poor, for a foreward players some have claimed here is exceptional quality. |

Joebie: What is infantile? Opportunity is part of football. If you get a chance and you have it, you can do well. If you do not get the chance, you will take time to blow. Being English and from Chelsea academy is one of the reasons Tammy broke into Chelsea earlier. That gave him the chance to show his talent. Lampard also gave him that opportunity to show his work. So, when they are talking of HISTORY, that Tammy has scored 100 goals and Osimhen has not, it is actually infantile to forget about that Opportunity played a part in Tammy having an early start. It is also neglect the fact of Osimhen also battling injuries, coming from a tough background to have the kind of start Tammy had. This is a fact, and this is football. If you want balanced analysis, you take as much factors as you can. Not jus saying that someone has scored this amount of goals over the years. |

Talk about injuries a season or two. But even this factor will not fly over a course of time during one’s football career. However mentioning a footballer’s years growing up as a lad to support why they succeed or fail season after season are talks that should be left to the kitchen table. TheGoodJoe you MAY get away with saying this on Nigerian media but no go embarrass Nigerians as an analyst in the International scene. Anyways this is NairaLand. So listen to Komekn. If you switch Osimhen and Tammy’s childhood circumstances, no one can tell what would be the outcome. So it’s totally pointless. Mind you I’m not even saying Tammy was better this season. I’m not into this argument. I’m just dismayed by your logic. TheGoodJoe: 1 Like |

TFLASHOGEE: King of Vawulence, we have not even started. There is no club in Nigeria that has an academy like Swansea. Swansea's academy is moi moi. We do not have the structure. We do not have the foundation. You have a far better chance there than here. None, I repeat, none of those players in England hawked water to feed their families. The difference is too much. Shun Vawulence, I come in peace. 1 Like |

Joebie: I repeat, the discussion is 100 goals so far. If we are talking when both players have stabilized and we want to compare them, I am all for it. However, opportunity played a big role in the early start players like Tammy get. The point might not fly in Europe because they lack zero idea of the challenges an African football kid gets. Look at the picture below, he could not play for Arsenal because of work permit despite his immense talent. Yaya had to go on a journey which an English kid would have walked into Arsenal. That is a fact. Our players find it tougher in the start. So that is why Tammy leads in goals. 1 Like

TheGoodJoe:Sir,Taiye Taiwo,Kanu Nwankwo,Finidi George and Celestine Babayaro hit it straight landing in Europe....Tammy 100 career goals is not about being born in UK,he works for it cos we have many talented players in UK that couldn't measure up.Ademola Lookman was a mere street footballer but with hard work and dedication he is doing well now. Sir,we have many Osimehns in Nigeria who are into yahoo yahoo and drugs in Nigeria,so we cannot say what future hold. Osimehn had the opportunity early with Wolfsburg.I want to say he find it difficult adapting not about injury.....Osimehn games is more than goal scoring alone and Napoli spending $80m on 13 goals striker a season should tell us there is more to his game. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Kog45: Which clubs are you talking of? Apart from Kanu, how many made a big break in a top club in Europe in their teens? Taiye Taiwo was from U20, that is late to what we are talking of. I am not saying they had it easy. I am not saying it was a walk in the park but I am saying their environment gives them an edge. It is difficult for an African kid to have the kind of break Tammy Abraham had at Chelsea. Tammy was 18 years old when he had that break to play in a team like Chelsea. It takes a high degree of fortune to make it from Africa, especially Nigeria. If Osimhen was born in London and grew through their academy system, he would have been far ahead in career goals than he has now. That is the point. If Iheanacho did not break into our academy system based on the special talent clause, he would not have had that early break in Manchester City. This is what these kids are born into. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheLoneCitizen:Iheanacho just need to move to a club that would appreciate him more without that his contribution to the team would always end up in debating. Less minutes or not he had 24 games so far and 4 goals.Yes top 5 in Leicester,Tammy was highest goal scorer with Chelsea last season despite frozen out of the team. Iheabacho should just do the needful and move if he want to be rated like Sallah or Mane. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:I still have guys who are training everyday till this day, hoping some miracle will happen and go to Europe not even npfl. Last time I had a dream of such was maybe 2015-16. I simply moved to other things(although very painful as football was everyone’s dream in my hood) it’s extremely hard to breakout unless you are insanely good. I was a little privileged cuz all I had to do was wake and go to training, come back with half of my teammates and we cook beans and do Garri. Nap, play game and go to the field again by 4:30pm. For many of my team mates, 2 particular have to train in the morning, then go and do car wash before he gotta eat, then train again in the evening, only God knows how he do dinner. It’s very hard to break out, only a handful gets to even travel, not even about having a great career at all. No structure, no plan, only train, hard work, faith and hope. I have an old group photo, about 30 of us, only Rashidat Ajibade ever made it out. Rest are still playing grassroots, 1 particularly(one of the best strikers I have seen) Ezekiel, so good he would definitely be a professional if he was in Uk, is now a thug At iyana Iba collecting dues. Shakes head.how many I wan talk. I’m only buttressing the point my oga made, I’m not trading blame or anything, I’m also a victim too. If there was a working system, a working progression of talents from u8,10,12, etc. before you get to under 15 the better ones are identified and worked on. Even if it’s not Europe, the local league should be an Avenue many truly young players have some kind of career. Mehn, many footballers waste for my set. Damn. Many are still wasting. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Kog45: There's nothing like "less minutes or not." If a player is brought on for 5 minutes in every game of the season, it is going to be counted to him as 38 games played. Is it right to use those numbers to judge a player's season? 2 Likes 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:Sir,do we need to even compared UK and Nigeria talking about opportunities. Osimehn,Nwakili,Awoniyi,Iheanacho,Ndidi,Success,Chuckwueze should thank their stars that they are able to arrive Europe early to develop their skills than languishing in a system where nobody care about grassroots development but always looking for shortcuts. 1 Like |

Starboytwo: Thank you for the emotional post. I feel your pain and saw some kids in a street academy with the same pain, although a few of them broke to Europe and some Asia. They are doing fine for themselves but was not easy. However, a large chunk of them, about 90% of them did not make it. Sad because these were genuine talents. Now we move to England, many clubs, from the Premier League to the Championship and lower leagues, offer these kids these golden opportunities. They have a working system in each club. Look at London, where you have Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham, and it goes to clubs in the Championship like Fulham, even to the lower leagues. Teams like Barnsley. All in one City with academies given kids opportunities to work and earn a living by following their dreams. The gap is not the same. Anyone who thinks it is, needs to have a rethink. Thank you again. |

TheLoneCitizen:Thank you for the correction but big question Sir,why is it that a player is having 5 to 20 minutes in every game doing the needful and still find himself on the bench. Iheanacho should move and fulfill his potential as a player, not all these sub in sub out games. |

To even get kits, training materials, cones, balls, goal keeper gloves, first aid na rocket science. Our coach no get money or another job, he is also an aspiring footballer ,no sponsor, non existent football science, if you get injured, that’s your mums or relatives problem. God blesses you if nobody supports your dreams at home. See don’t even compare. It’s incomparable. Anytime I see a home grown player in any European team, Omo, you don’t know how happy and elated I am, do you know how much work he did, damn, it’s not beans. I was working at a lodge few year ago and wole (Raheem lawal) played 2-3 times for keshi in the Eagles came to lodge with his manager, I use to hang around in his room and you will hear things, many unimaginable things baller’s had to do, sacrifices to go to turkey, Cyprus etc. many boys turn slaves to the manager, washing cars, doing Laundary, gate man, etc just for Europe tickets. Omo we Dey try for here ooo, serious, if you make am as a footballer not even mainstream Europe, backwater join, you try for my book. 2 Likes |
