With 100k for basic needs (rent not inclusive), you're good to go. But I hope you don't plan on eating mostly at eateries. That way, your 100k will rush down the drains in a week.

Thank you so much. Do you think 100k monthly will be enough for feeding and other basic stuffs?. I have my own car and housing is not too be included because it is taken care of already.

Don't be deceived sir, its expensive to live anywhere in Nigeria this time, it now depend on the kind of life you are used to. I have live here for 11yrs, so I can give you a clue about what life is in Osogbo.

Osogbo is a small city, with no much traffic, reasonable power supply and low crime rate. Life in Osogbo can be fun if you are a type that hangouts and drink, otherwise no any amusement park or museum to visit ooo, just lot of clubs and lounge.

Transportation is kinda cheap, food is cheap in nearby town if you can drive down on their market days to stuck up your ban. Buying from the street can be so annoying sometimes, it comes in high rate.

Now let's get down to shelter, Osogbo is becoming expensive when it comes to real estate, if you are type that love nice environment, of course we all do ! So the best areas you can live in Osogbo are Estate, Ogo Oluwa, Halleluyah, Tinumola, Prime and of course GRA and Oroki housing though more expensive. Apart from GRA and Oroki housing, from the rest listed above, you can get 2,3 bedrooms apartment for 250 to 350k. You can get for 200 or 250k but the chances are now very slim.... Moreover, beware of some agents, they can be so desperate and dubious, so be on the watch out. But in all I bet you will enjoy it here, especially if you like babes and cool drinks

Enjoy

Hi all,

Please I need pointers on how expensive it is to live comfortably in Oshogbo for a family of 3 (Man, woman and a 10 yrs old child).

Planning relocating from Kaduna to Oshogo but I want to know how expensive the city is so I can make adequate preparations.

Thank for the anticipated responses.

With 100k monthly you will live comfortable in Osogbo but house rent start from 250k for 2bed room everything else is cheap and affordable

You will get a decent 3 bedroom flat for 180k in places around Iludun area. That area is not so developed sha oo but it is not in any way a slum. I don't know much about places like Dada Estate or the likes. But with 180k to 200k, I am sure you will find a decent 3 bedroom flat and at worst a 2 bedroom flat for that price in any other place.
As for transport, #50 used to be the minimum for these small korope buses but it rose to #100 due to the recent fuel price hike. However, things are returning to normal and you will still find #50 transport if your destination is not far.
As for foodstuffs, things are quite relatively cheap if you want to be making your own food but eating out is quite on the high even in mama put. But compared to other states, Oshogbo is still cheap to live in and eat out. I hope this helps.

Osogbo is not as cheap as they paint it on social media again o. I am also planning to relocate to Osogbo from Ado Ekiti, One of the reason for relocating is the expensive life in Ado Ekiti despite the fact that state is relatively small. Then, i keep hearing Osogbo is cheaper to stay bla bla bla.... Throughout last week i was in Osogbo to scan through the environment and also to scout for 2 bedroom apartment. I was stunned to realized that there is no much difference with Osogbo and where i am coming from.

Starting from the house agents, those idiots are vampire, i met a lot of them that will demand 2k for inspection and still take you to a rubbish house, worst of them is the one i met on Jiji, he demanded for 2k form fee, 1k inspection fee, 500 for the person bringing key to the apartment and also the person's transport fee and the apartment itself is 300k total package is 380k, due to my desperation to secure the apartment in order to plan another thing, i nodded in agreement. Lo and behold, we got to the said 300k apartment i nearly vomited, myself and my wife didnt spent 5 secs before we left the building. then he started asking for the nonsense transport and money for bringing key and i refused, i told him i can never pay after seeing where he took us, it almost caused a scene. the idiot was swearing as he left.

After all my experience with these vampires, i decided to search by myself, i spent a lot on bike and still cannot find any decent one until last Saturday when i saw one around Ilesha garage, it is the first available one that is close to what we want, i paid 300k for the house rent and 50k for caution and agreement ish. I will be moving from Ado to Osogbo probably next weekend because the house is a new one and it remain painting and then general cleaning.... the bottom line remains that even house rent is not cheap in Osogbo, you can never find a decent 2 bedroom for less than 300k, anything below that will be a old house in a very rough area with old facilities.

These experience already send signal that it is not as cheap as what i knew Osogbo to be.... 3 years ago you will board korope for N50 now any drop is N100..... etc
Dem scam u.. 300k for two bedroom flat in ilesa garage?? Not even in estate or g.r.a. haba. A standard two bed room flat I got around march is 150k. With water running,at agunbelewo area. I searched it myself tho

Osogbo is one of the easiest state capitals to live in Nigeria.

Electricity In Osogbo is next to non.

Power is 22 hours in 24.

Water is available either thru Boreholes compared to Gombe State capital that there can never be water even you dig borehole no water, cursed town to live because no water.

Transport is cheaper and easier in Osogbo.

Rent is affordable.

Girls still have good morals compared to lekki girls sleeping with dogs and Abuja big babes

School for ur child would have morales and relatively qualitative.

What more?

My first question is that, where are you from?
(State of origin)
If you are from the North, you may find it little inconvenient but if you're from the south you will enjoy it
Am living in sokoto, am planning any movement from now to relocate to osogbo
If find it more convenient than any other states in the west(personal opinion please)

This is the mistake many of you make.

Except rents, things (especially, food) are becoming more expensive in Osogbo than Ibadan?

And rent sef is only typically cheap in places away from the centre where new areas are beginning to spring up.

Cost of living in Oshogbo is very cheap. One of the cheapest state capital to live in.

Although, I left Oshogbo in 2015 after my NYSC but I must say, I was living fine and well with my N19,800.
Rented a decent room with it and cost of feeding too was very cheap. I heard transport is a bit expensive now cuz then, with just N50, you would tour the entire Oshogbo (one-way) unlike what we have here in Lagos.

Coming from Kaduna won't make much difference with your forecast. Whatever your income is in Kaduna would be enough to take care of you and your family in Oshogbo. Use that as a guide.

Let me also add that Oshogbo has steady power supply! Dem too dey get light, abegi!

Not so sure

In Osogbo, 100k is more than enough for 3 mouths.

Foodstuffs are far more expensive in Osogbo than in Kaduna. But 100k should be enough to feed on, as well as get other basic stuffs.

If you work with a budget, 100k is even an overkill sef.

100k/month should be enough, but depends on your taste.

Rent is cheap in Osogbo

Food stuffs are expensive cry

Transportation isn't cheap.

Power supply is moderate, but not as stable as it were few years back.

Crime rate is low

The town can be bored atimes.

There are no, or a few job opportunities.

Language could be a barrier if you don't understand Yoruba.

Well, I live in Osogbo.
The cost of living might be higher than what you have in Kaduna but lower than what you might have in Lagos or Ibadan.
Food prices are high in the South generally compared to the North.
House rent too. Two bedrooms with fence and borehole goes for 250k annually.
Transport cost within the city using taxi ranges between N100 and N200 per drop depending on the distance, I'm not talking about bikes.
Electricity is fairly stable as the city is a home to NCC/Nationwide distribution.
Business could be dull because of the not much population compared to big cities. But if you are a transporter, be rest assured that you won't lack money.
Security of lives and properties is not bad. Not excellent but far better than majority of the cities in Nigeria.

You can ask any specific question

BabaIbo:
It is getting kinda costly now, tho cheaper when compared with most other cities.

Now, the agents are increasing the rent because they are aware people are moving there in numbers and they feel if they are moving from Lagos and so on, they should be able to cope with the cost.

Before, a shop in osogbo was 100k/year at most but now, every new complex is charging 400k upward with outrageous agent and agreement fee and the funny thing is the buying strength of most Osogbo residents is low.
Before with 100k you will get a 2 bedroom flat but now it is double or more of that.

Except you want to live in those ancient areas aka "agbole."

Osogbo is a civil service city.
[s] It is peaceful lest for the skullarship and miners there. [/s] Relatively close to Lagos and Ibadan.
It has good power supply too.

I like your submission, it is accurate. Except for the part that made me clicked the Report Button on your ass

Osogbo is a good place with good road network. They used to have good electricity, but these days, electricity in osogbo is terrible.

Have you considered a place like Abeokuta or Akure?
In my own priority l, I will choose Abeokuta first, Akure then Osogbo. Those places are very cool.
