Sabadon: Next time, understand issues before commenting. We all agree flying is for the rich abi? What the airlines are indirectly asking for is subsidy for aviation fuel. Why should Nigeria subsidize the rich? They asked for license to import aviation fuel, they were given. Why the cry again? 1 Like |

mfm04622: You just confirmed the dangers of a one-sided story. So they were eventually giving the licence to import fuel as they requested?? Why then are they crying foul |

Just imagine the difference, from 190 to 700. Prices of everything has gone up, naira is now valueless, insecurities, people are dying daily, students are now idle due to ASUU strike, companies are complaining. It's hard for a common man to survive. Yet, these people are thinking of next election purchasing forms of over hundred million and nobody is protesting. Seems we love suffering so much, it shall not be well with any nigerian trying to vote apc or any candidate from this present administration in the forthcoming election. 2 Likes |

Basically, the cost of making aviation fuel has risen drastically, and we are no longer subsidizing the thing, at least not in ten years. Now, if we had made refining profitable in Nigeria by completely removing subsides on petrol , at least as late as even 2015, we would have had some domestic production of aviation fuel, but the cost would still be high. So government is left with these options 1.Import and subsidize aviation fuel for the airlines..meaning we spend billions more on subsides. 2. Allow the airlines to drastically raise fares to cover cost of jet fuel. Thanks be to Putin for this wonderful gift. |

Govt has no business subsidising jet fuel. Businesses of all shades across the country are struggling to cope with the ever rising cost of inputs. Ordinary market women are struggling to sell their wares. Some civil servants have received no salary for months. Yet, fat cat airlines think they are so special and deserving of subsidy. They should live by the forces of the market they operate in. Increase your prices if you have to, or shut down. Your business. 3 Likes |

By the end of this administration, this country will get to an irredeemable state. Instead of fixing these mess they are busy campaigning for 2023. Why are we paying trillions of naira for subsidy. When a quarter of that amount can fix our refineries. 1 Like |

BigBashiru: Still not realistic sir When they are buying fuel at 190, ticket sold for 25k to 27k but now at 700naira, ticket sold for 50k 190 to sudden 700 is over 360% increment whereas ticket fee only increase 100% which means if they are to go by the increase, ticket fee will be 90k+ Federal government need to think twice & adjust this sudden crazy increase of jet A even diesel is not left out as many companies cannot afford it Take a look at telcos, they were planning 40% increase in tarrif due to cost of fuel and no power supply to power their mast We citizens are not left out, between May 1 - today, I know how much I've spent on generating just to power my home appliances because I've never experienced 1minute of power supply since last month till today & that's how it was in most part of Ibadan Many things is wrong under this administration, we don't need to continue to pretend n pass blame on airlines 3 Likes |

subsidywise18: No. 2 is the right option. Government has no business subsidising jet fuel. Airline should increase prices if they want to. Those who can afford the new prices will continue to fly with them, and those who can't will find alternatives. Government can't subsidise every sector, not least one used by only a tiny fraction of the population. 1 Like |
