This country is doomed with the way we do things carelessly.. you put square pegs in round holes and expect things to work.
The mallams up North just fill themselves into all critical positions in public sector with nothing to offer, look at the heavy price the country is paying now. If you talk now, they'll say bigot and whatnot.

Still not realistic sir

When they are buying fuel at 190, ticket sold for 25k to 27k but now at 700naira, ticket sold for 50k

190 to sudden 700 is over 360% increment whereas ticket fee only increase 100% which means if they are to go by the increase, ticket fee will be 90k+

Federal government need to think twice & adjust this sudden crazy increase of jet A even diesel is not left out as many companies cannot afford it

Take a look at telcos, they were planning 40% increase in tarrif due to cost of fuel and no power supply to power their mast

We citizens are not left out, between May 1 - today, I know how much I've spent on generating just to power my home appliances because I've never experienced 1minute of power supply since last month till today & that's how it was in most part of Ibadan

Many things is wrong under this administration, we don't need to continue to pretend n pass blame on airlines

dont blame the administration, blame the disco/nepa staff.

Whats wrong with you?
A litre of aviation fuel is hovering between 700-750 per litre and you expect an airline company to subsidize services at 20-25k?
Did you not read that the product that was initially 190 is now 700 per litre?
Even diesel that was touted as a deregulated product and was sold at 250 per litre is now 750..more than a 100% increase!
Tell me which company in Nigeria can survive such a humongous increase?

nigerians are their own enemies.... a plane can fit 100-200 passengers..... price per passenger even with the hike in fuel is still affordable...

Decided to buy 10 liters of kerosine for my parent 3 days ago (since my mom refuse using gas because of fear of my dad) and discovered a liter of kerosine is about 540 naira. Aircrafts use special substances that is synonymous to kerosine and my neighbor working for Aero said a liter of it is closed to 950/liter. Something that was around 450/liter jumped to 950/liter. This country is sinking so fast than I calculated. Where did we the masses go wrong? Who did we offend? These are the questions I am asking everyone around me now.

Lets even assume without conceding that an airplane can accommodate such number...
Will the company not pay the workers who include the engineers, the pilots, the servicing of the planes, and also the multiple taxations they pay to the FG?
Why not tackle the issue at hand that caused the increment instead of trying to look for a way whereby passengers are parked like sardine inside an airplane!
Your illogical suggestion is tantamount to asking a bus driver to congest his bus with more passengers as a way of reducing the transport fare despite a humongous hike in the price of PMS!
Just incase you dont know which i have corrected in your statement,an airplane uses aviation fuel or jet fuel not PMS!

The aviation ministry must rise up to avert the impending strike.. those found not doing their job should be sacked and able hands employed without delay. The Govt must demonstrate able leadership for everyone concern to sit up . This type of news is damaging and sickening to serious minded people in this century

What will happen to my bookings? Will I get refunds?

Men, it is about time one looks into private jet purchase. I am losing hope in commercial.

A friend of mine has a desperate need for a travel passport. She was captured since last year and the passport isn't forthcoming. Can she cancel and make a new one? What is the hope for her? Please help!
Looks like it's just Arik that will enforce this afterall because I just checked about 4 airlines and it's only Arik that doesn't have flight on Monday.

On your friends passport, she can only wait; it will come out eventually. A friend's was delayed for almost 8 months before it came out.

Why have they never thought of coming together and seek government support to build their own refinery and produce aviation fuel locally. Why cant we be producing aviation fuel in Nigeria.
Re: Nigerian Airlines To Shut Down All Operations On Monday Over Fuel Costs by Meeenah(f): 5:52am On May 07, 2022
subsidywise18:
Basically, the cost of making aviation fuel has risen drastically, and we are no longer subsidizing the thing, at least not in ten years.

Now, if we had made refining profitable in Nigeria by completely removing subsides on petrol , at least as late as even 2015, we would have had some domestic production of aviation fuel, but the cost would still be high.

So government is left with these options

1.Import and subsidize aviation fuel for the airlines..meaning we spend billions more on subsides.

2. Allow the airlines to drastically raise fares to cover cost of jet fuel.

Thanks be to Putin for this wonderful gift.

WHY CAN'T THEY REFINE THEIR OWN FUEL. Aviation fuel that you know is very important for your business, they should have been producing it locally by themselves since.
