Weird topic I know. Today is Saturday, the usual Nigerian shopping day for restocking our groceries and what have you. I saw someone asking on Instagram and it occurred to me that inadvertently I have market clothes and slippers. So how do you dress for the market? 19 Likes

Yeah, I dress in jeans and tops . A heavy bargainer (covers face) My family members tease me a lot about this. My trick is to hail you customer even when I'm buying from you for the first time I make lists but still buy on impulse I hate that I do this. I don't buy from people I know. I buy from specific people but have no problem switching. I got big tote bags now since price of bagco bags went up. 82 Likes 4 Shares |

I dread buying meat. I think buying meat is the true test of your negotiation skills because this is where you can be ripped badly. Other items like frozen food, vegetable oil and seasoning cubes have fixed prices. Even if there is a difference, it would be N20-50. But you see meat (beef or goat meat)? If you snooze, you would lose badly. To buy meat, I make a mental calculation of how many pieces of N50/100 meat I can get from it. Just the way bukas cut their meat. Then take away another sum as a discount on bulk purchase. Thankfully I have a butcher that does me well now and my calculation never fails when I get home to cut into my preferred size. Yes I cut myself. Even my chicken and turkey, I cut myself. There are dedicated knives for this sha. 102 Likes 7 Shares

doggedfighter: - I wear shorts and oversized tee most times. I like to see my legs in the market. - Hahahaha. It is the hailing for me. I use a lot of “Daddy” and “Mummy” on those old people. Every other day I tell one of them they look like my favourite aunty or uncle, so I was drawn to them. - I have one bagco I have been using for months. I wash it when I get home and dry it for the next market day. - I make a list in my phone too. I start making the list within the week. That is how I tend not to forget anything. 55 Likes |

Shorts, trekkers, t-shirt. I mainly used to buy fruits. I also used to recycle bagco. This year, there are no giant mangoes or I don't know where to find them 4 Likes |

doggedfighter: I gave them to gateman to sharpen when his brothers dey pass. I would take a picture when he returns them. They are just regular knifes, with a big one for cutting frozen chicken and turkey. I cut myself because I mix the sizes. There is size for head of the house and size for others. doggedfighter: Strangely I am not a born cook. I picked up cooking skills during my NYSC. No, I never cut my leafy vegetables in the market. I have created a thread on that HERE. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Market? The only place people that don't know you before but can tell you your family background if you vex dem. I use to love wearing shorts or three quarters short to buy stuff from Itam market, not until the day I wore those basketball sleeveless top and shorts during Udra Itam to get foodstuffs. Omo, out of nowhere one woman like that carry wrapper come cover me from my shoulder down, I vex want para for her oo before She den told me to run and hide, I was confused and scared at the same time but I summon small courage and asked her why. Na so she point her fingers for sky oo, dey ask WETHER ION SEE THAT HAWK WERE DEY FLY, SAY THE HAWK WANT CARRY ME . Omo I weak, just incase you are thinking why she did that, YEAH I'M 6,4 TALL AND SKINNY 22 Likes 1 Share |

It depends on the kind of shopping. If shopping for items in the local market, I can do a free dress or any casual clothes I use at home. But if im going shopping at the supermarket/mall, I'll do a pant and t-shirt or blouse. Or my jean. Its has to be causal at the end of the day as any corporate outfit is a no no. 3 Likes |

I wear boxers and singlet. I do all my shopping right on my phone and it is delivered to me 2hrs later. By shopping online, I limit my exposure to toxic fumes, dirty roadside puddle, police extortion and random street fight. Moreover, by shopping online, I'm creating jobs for others as well as saving the planet from global warming. I will advise everyone living in a big city to buy groceries online, it may seem expensive but exposure to cancer causing fumes is detrimental to your health. 14 Likes 2 Shares |
