don't forget that Nigeria has both natural resources and a huge population

DRC has more of natural resources though

It would be the equivalence of saying Jumia is a Nigerian company. Though it was founded by two Nigerians alongside two Germans in 2012.
Thats what these folks like galivant fail to grasp.
Diageo bought a struggling company, poured in cash and expand it to Tz,but someone he still thinking the company is his. If they wanted to own it,why did they sell it? You can't have both grin

IPPS cost nothing in capitation. We stopped them before we had to pay too much excess capacity. You're going to pay a billion dollars annually for idle turbines for a long time. That is stupidity of highest order. It almost all your oil royalties gone like that.
that's the thing, you do not have the capacity to even grow your access to electricity.. hence why it is below 50%

We pay 200 million for our reserve capacity and that is withing our will to keep in line with an ever growing powered demand.

Your country will do best by supplying the rest of Kenya with Electricity... In order to do so, you will need almost 30 billion dollars in investment.

Good luck with that grin

East African breweries owned Tanganyika breweries before Diageo came in. Name any Tanzanian company in Kenya and I will name 20 Kenyan companies in Tz; bigger and better. Even in Healthcare, Magufuli would testify Kenya is miles ahead. Albinos and witchcraft is the only thing you can beat us in. Your lazy stupid country has never even won a single Olympic medal? Don't be stupid. Is it a Tanzanian company? Before Diageo bought in East African breweries was bigger than any company in Tanzania. Safaricom, Equity etc are all bigger than your top 40 companies combined. Even your dead president came for help in Nairobi. Please join fellow Tanzanians in praying for fuel crisis in Kenya and killing albinos.
Here are the answers...
1.It's not a Tz company, or kenyan but a British company
2.Safaricom is big,but is mostly under Vodafone, a British company
3.No proof magufuli left Tz best hospitals for your shithole hospitals
4.We never prayed for your fuel crisis but foolishness gave u a crisis
5.Albino are well protected in TZ unlike u who starve yourselves to death

Name a single Tanzanian company with a market capilization of over $10million, just name one. Magufuli came to get saved in Nairobi. Albinos are not safe in Tanzania, you chop off their hands for witchcraft. True definition of backwardness and savagery.

It can't work 1000% as planned, but still if we get 50% success rate that will be enough for anycounty which is serious in manufacturing to be rich.
I think the major problems are not in a free trade, but costs of production are too high.

Well knowing how difficult it is to travel around Africa as well as the terrible roads between borders and stuff like that, poor infrastructure for logistics, etc. It's gonna be difficult, but we have to start somewhere.

I am not suprised that you picked Russia. A third world country with nuclear weapons. Very few countries develop using natural resources. Those that have developed and that kenya want to follow do not have any natural resources - you can majority of Asian Tigers - most of Western Europe. What those countries do - they invest in their people - they educate them, they feed them better, they have less kids - and those people can then buy natural resouces from Nigeria or Russia - add value - and get more money. Look at you oil - India that doesnt have any oil - buy them cheap - refine them - and re-sell them.

Now let move to Kenya - apart from last month of madness - we have always nailed the oil sector - and re-export oil worth 2B dollars. How do we do this - we have cornered the logistics of the downstream oil business. We have 2nd most functional downstream oil pipeline, we had refinery that is now a storage, and we have huge storage tanks - that allows us to re-export oil and it's by products from Kenya to Uganda, DRC, Rwanda, Congo, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia and even down to Moz. Kenya oil downstream companies are selling fuel in those countries.

So you see having natural resources is NOTHING to shout about. Human brains is more important - making sure you build modern economy that is not based on natural resources critical.

You're talking about 2008 - Kenya has breezed through all sort of global crisis without any worry - because we have resilient diversified NON mineral economy.

We have built africa largest non-mineral economy by investing in HCI. And Nigeria has world WORST
Did you know that Kenya's HCI is the 2nd HIGHEST IN AFRICA at 0.56? Mauritius leads at 0.64.

Nigeria has one of the lowest HCIs in the world at just 0.33 (same as Angola).

Rwanda's HCI of 0.36 is higher than Eswatini (the latter's GDP per capita is 4-5 times greater).

And really the only non-mineral investment you're now shouting about - so called FinTech/ICT - is mainly driven by diaspora Nigerians returning home - this not homegrown HCI.

HCI 2020 had a significant entry:
Accounting for the level of GDP, economies such
as Vietnam, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, as well as
Kenya and Cambodia, performed particularly well
in learning. Vietnam reaches an HTS of 519, a level
similar to countries like Sweden, the Netherlands,
and New Zealand, which are significantly richer.23

As always there's room for improvement and we should aim for Vietnam. Should the Swedes, Dutch and NZrs do better given their vastly higher GDPs? A srs question, imo.
Under Ruto I see us easily reaching Seychelles rank of 0.6, even 0.65 given his passion and the commitment of Magoha and his education ministry who would be a credit ANYFKNWHERE globally in his fiel

There is no difference..from 4,000 to 12000 they considered upper middle income..not developed. They are third world.Kenya just need to double it's GDP per capita to be equal to Russia.
grin grin You obviously don't know the meaning of third world. $11000 per capita is far above the benchmark for poverty ratings. Not to talk of their hdi. And they don't starve and wear tags like Kenyans.

Kenya's gdp per capita of $2000 is a far cry from Russia's $11000. But I like your wishful thinking. It helps you sleep well. wink

We have to start somewhere yes.
The Chinese are selling almost everything to us with all these challenging transport systems.
I think the key here is to produce cheap stuff the same way the Chinese are doing. And in such a case, countries like Kenya and SA will be the big losers in Africa's free trade since their energy costs are too high.
