Apart from some ladies suffering from low self-esteem n inferiority complex. Nigerian men are one of the major cause of dark skinned ladies bleaching their skin!
It is obvious and glaring that most Nigerian men have set their beauty standard of a lady to she being fair skinned, once a lady is fair skinned she is automatically beautiful and attractive!! Most men are guilty of this!!!

Most men seems to prefer and attracted to a fair-skinned ladies than the dark skinned ladies, which will end up making them bleach their skin to be attractive and preferred.

Gone are those days, when true African/Nigerian beauty were being appreciated, we are African and we are mainly dark skinned people as a black race! In the good old days where people like Agbani darego are seen for their true African beauty unlike nowadays in the model, fashion & beauty pageant world where once you a lady is light skinned, she have higher changes of winning and succeeding!

Foreigners & Outsider Men now appreciate and cherish our true African dark skinned ladies more than most of our African/Nigerian men!!! Just like how 5yrs old Jare Ijalana was made the most beautiful girl in the world for her true African beauty few years ago!

Well to the beautiful dark skinned ladies out there, appreciate and rock your skin with pride and confidence, stop the bleaching that is not who you truly are!!! Let's appreciate our African queens.

You have a point there, but not all men prefer fair ladies. Some prefer a mix of dark and fair while some prefer Dark skinned ladies. Personally I prefer the mix between fair and dark. Girls who bleach their skin all because a guy who may not be her husband prefer fair skinned ladies are doing so at their own risk; it the same thing as a girl going for breast augmentation because her boyfriend complained that they are small. He will still leave her for one reason or the other . Beauty isn't the key but character. Most men marry because of her beauty and end up regretting it.

Well bleaching is a turn off for me I prefer ladies being natural, whether yellow,black, chocolate or white.

Not every Nigerian man prefers light skin girls. In fact, most guys I know actually prefer dark skin beauties including me and I'm light skin.

It all boils down to people's preferences. If you bleach because men in your area prefer light skin girls, it says more about you than those men.

Like someone up there has said,most men want virgins, independent girls who don't ask for 'urgent 2k' everytime, submissive etc,that didn't stop most nigerian girls from being sexually promiscuous,very dependent leeches and very proud and entitled,so don't blame men for women problems. I once jumped out of a moving car to go and meet a dark skinned girl, I bruised my feet and almost dislocated my legs.

She was the darkest girl I've ever seen, her smile was glowy cos her teeth were white and shiny so they radiate through her mouth, and she smiled a lot. She is young and of average height, couldn't get my eyes off her and regretted not approaching initially so I did the unthinkable.

When I went back I didn't see her again so I ended up walking halfway home cos of tfare shortage, with a bruised leg and damaged sippers.

Maybe it's because of were I am from but as black as I myself am, I find black women to be more attractive, more intelligent, more homely and respectful, haven't dated in years and still can't get my eyes off them, especially the smiling and greeting ones. Haaaaaaa.... lovelies they are.
