As I pointed out earlier, I know that both religious books approved of violence but the fact is that most christians try to emulate Christ and moslems try to emulate Mohammed. Hence it's significant to point out the differences in moral standards of both.

Christians are less violent partly because Jesus Christ was never violent.

Moslems are more violent because their prophet espoused violence. He killed a lot of people during his lifetime in religious conquests.
Jesus wasn’t violent? But his dad the insecure maniac is known to be very violent, and given that Jesus was a manufactured illusion to tone down the rhetoric of the Old Testament is baffling that you guys quote him and at the same time ignore his illogical ideas

Only the poor will enter heaven
Turn the other cheek cheesy

That guy was a con artist and he was killed like the criminal that he was

The one that baffles me the most is the promise of hell that keeps most sheep in line, he is not violent but he promises anybody that doesn’t love him eternal pain in a firey pit

By force love things

nah he is smart, if he allowed Christians with their invasive tendencies to freely enter that space

Nairaland will be uninhabitable for Muslims, they will be religious wars of words and most Muslims will exit this platform, there are at least 20 Christians for each Muslim and i’m only guessing i’m sure that it’s much more than that self

But do you honestly think the menace of tribal wars and personal attacks on the forum isn't making it uninhabitable for most people? Shouldn't that be his major apprehension?

I find it hypocritical that this forum which is supposed to unite us with freedom of expression and opinions is dividing us into sects based on our beliefs..

Dude is doing NL Christians and others a disservice if the Muslims can comment on their threads but they could not in turn comment on theirs unless they renounce their own beliefs.

If this was done to prevent others from making a mockery of the Muslim beliefs then I believe the Christians and other religions deserves such protections as well because they all get bullied at one time or the other.

This is nonsense. Christianity is one of the most peaceful religion in the world.

If the most popular religion in the world was just a little bit more ruthless, Islam and Muslims will hide.

I could remember while growing up

My mom would flog me for missing Sunday service or any of the family prayersgrin

Back in the seminary alma matter days.. folks were expelled for as little offense as making noise in the chapel of prayers..

Religious fanaticm goes across board

Just that most christians has advanced to the stage of not brewing violence in face of their belief criticisms

But Muslims.. the chore fanatics lacks enlightenment and advancement hence thy re stuck in archaic beliefs and judgement

U can’t be in ur house and decide what is blasphemy or not. It is the law court that can do that after listening to the argument of lawyers of all the parties in the case. I do not understand Hausa to have known exactly what the girl said or not; neither do I know the young ladies’ beef with those other guys before the unfortunate incident.

Like I said earlier , they should’ve handed her to law enforcement agents if they feel she has committed the crime of blasphemy.

But one thing is sure, the jungle justice they carried out by taking laws into their hands is what people have been doing down south setting ablaze suspected kidnappers, ritualists etc without having a recourse to the law enforcement agents.

We need to agree jungle justice as a nation as a whole , not telling northerners to refrain from such dastardly act and neglecting the ones being down by our brothers here

Again with the whataboutism, the jungle justice in Deborah's case is a side issue, an important issue nonetheless but a side issue. The main issue is the motivation for the killing.

Listen blueray, sometimes violence is LOGICAL, I didn't say justified, I said, LOGICAL. When we hear that a cultist was burnt to death by a rival cult group, we simply shrug our shoulders and move away because the death was logical, play stupid games, win dangerous prices.

Or we hear where an armed robber who has just killed his victims but engages in open fire combat with the police and catches a bullet, it's a violent death but logical.

Where's the logic in killing someone for telling her classmates to stop posting religious stuff on a class WhatsApp group?? Where's the goddamn logic??

Mind you she didn't actually insult Mohammed, she just made an off the cuff remark, "no be only prophet" how then do Sane people start making this an issue of just the jungle justice??

It's just like American republicans focusing on only the supreme court leak while abandoning the main premise of the issue.

Whataboutism is just a deflection tactic.

tribal wars are inevitable, even in civilized societies, it advances from tribes to ideologue

I don’t think that he can moderate that beyond banning extremist views

Nairaland isn’t diving us, it’s encouraging an open discussion on various societal issues

If a thread is created on a Christian issue, it would be hard for Muslims to troll or dominate discuss but that is easier for Christians to do to Muslims because they hold a majority on this platform, besides if you compare both, Muslims tend to go about their businesses in peace unless you invade their space, but Christians feel entitled and tend to invade the spaces of others hence the need for such barriers

Christianity has had the advantage of being tamed by the Enlightenment..

Today, if you insulted JESUS, printed HIS face on toilet paper, or urinated on a Bible, you would be hated but unharmed.

Take this same attitude to Sokoto, and you would get slaughtered like a pig.

That's the difference.

Straight to the point...

Pep and Klopp, who’s bigger and better?

Gimme Klopp anyday for most teams

But if I have a Sheikh funding, I'll take Pep

Pep is a specialist at efficiently defeating teams when he has the better players

When you are an underdog club, you go for someone like Klopp

That's why Pep will get 3 points from the likes of Wolves, Everton and co all day. But when the gulf in quality between players is shortened in the UCL, he fumbles. This no be today story, same thing happened at Bayern. Na just SAF naivety to play them toe to toe with inferior players gave him his UCL. Chelsea already dumped him out if not for Ovrebo, and Inter did the same. When he went to Bayern, we saw how Madrid and Barca disgraced him when he faced teams with better players. His strength is just in maximising the gulf in quality between players, but when quality is not on his side, he is weak.

Unrelated:

But we Nigerians actually support jungle justice when it suits our agenda.

Burn a rapist and watch Nigerian ladies support it.

Burn a false rape accuser and watch men support it, while ladies will lowkey condemn it.

Burn an aboki in Igbo land who was caught stealing and watch Igbos support it, while Hausas condemned it.

Burn someone for blasphemy in the north and watch the igbos condemn it while the Hausa support it.

If your relative gets caught for robbery even after shooting the victim, you’ll want the police to take care of it and not jungle justice.

But if your relative gets shot by a thief, you’ll so much prefer jungle justice and not police.

We can pretend to be civil online, but the truth remains that WE ALL support jungle justice.
I don't.

same way I will get manhandled if I held a poster than called adeboye a social criminal in front of his church

This argument is flawed, why would you do something like that, when you are already cognizant of the outcome

Doesn’t mean that backstabbing Christians are any better, enlightened people don’t believe that a virgin can give birth or that a man flew into the sky and went to heaven

Christians only became accommodating because they wanted to expand, in fact it was Saul that pushed that narrative

Prior the gist was that it’s only Israeli that will enter heaven or can even be called Christians

You didn’t know that I suppose

Ibime I think this is false equivalence.
The basic difference between a Christian and a Muslim is basically in how both their main figures lived thier lives. Yes, both religious books have verses that explicitly supports and approve violence and bloodshed BUT when you compare Jesus Christ and Mohammed, you see a difference in how they lived their lives and espoused followers to.

For example, Mohammed was a crusader, one who physically engaged in wars and bloodshed for the sake of Islam, his followers also did the same thing.

On the other hand, Jesus was a pacifist till death, even when his followers wanted to physically fight for him in Gethsemane when the Romans came to arrest him, he told them not to fight anybody. Jesus Christ NEVER killed anybody or approved the killing of anybody unlike Mohammed who fought wars in conquests and shed blood.

Also important to note that Jesus was a virgin till death, never married, never had sex, always preached about keeping the temple of Christ holy. Which is why you have some sects of Christianity directly following that doctrine.

On the other hand, Mohammed loved them bitches cheesy married 5 wives, fvcked a 9 year old kid and married her.

Jokes aside, I'm highlighting how the actions of these 2 spiritual figures inspire the actions of their followers. Jesus Christ was a pacifist till death, Mohammed was a warrior who killed people but sometimes advocated for peace. Make of that what you will.

I imagine that if I posted this on a certain Whatsapp group like Deborah did, you guys will be seeing my burnt corpse by now and will be foolishly debating whether I was suppose to say these in a my own class group. cheesy cheesy

As long as you no talk this one for Sokoto, no problem. I like to stay away from offending people based on their religion, race or sex. There's no gain in it.

I remembered this few days ago and was telling someone about it. He was asking me if that happened in Nigeria, lol. The killings have been going on for a long time. It is easy to make this a religious issue because it happened in the North. But let’s pretend like we don’t see similar news on Nairaland frontpage everyday.
Deborah was literally killed for an alleged blasphemy. You can't say "it is easy to make this a religious issue" when the killers themselves made it a religious issue and killed for religion. Whether it happened in the North or not, religion is at the center of this barbaric murder.

Poppy, I no dey live on assumptions and imaginations. I stick with reality

Money will buy power again and again in this country

For 15k a week (I think), I can have an armed policeman as an escort. So with 75k, I have 5 armed policemen following me about.

I just need to budget 300k a month, and these men will open and close doors for me, even violate traffic laws. And you are saying I should chase power?

Didn't you see how Abba Kyari was addressing Hushpuppy?

Just go out and see what Money commands. Forget all these assumptions of criticizing government and all that.

Go to ministries, government parastatals and see what privileges people with money have.

I would choose Money 1000 billion times over power in this country.

I don't think there is much to say on this because blueraydick has done all the explanations on how power is greater than money but not withstanding, I will choose to have money but I won't be stupid enough to think it is all and step on toes of those who have power even if am richer than Dangote.

400+ years of history says otherwise

Spanish inquisition off the top of my tongue.
Salem witch trials
Precursors for colonization
And I laugh when I hear Christians try to emulate Jesus, who died a bachelor. How many Christian makes are celibate and hanging out with 12 dudes wink
I think we know how all that priest celibacy has been going.
Christianity has grown out of violence or maybe it is tempered by secularism.

I'm pointing out the basic differences between the figureheads of each religion and how it influences their followers. Surely you can agree that the fact Jesus was a pacifist has certainly helped in abating the radicalization of christians and the violence of Mohammed has aided in the radicalization of his followers.

Jesus' pacifism certainly helped in the deradicalization of christians. Christians were able to use their own hands to evolve and abandon violence as a means of conversion.

Why haven't Islam done that??
You look at all the christian majority countries and you will almost never hear of a militant christian today. From European countries like England, Russia, Italy, Portugal etc to south American christian majority countries like Argentina, Chile, to African christian majority countries like South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda etc.
Don't get me wrong, these places have all had their own issues but never one caused by religion or it's adherents.

Now look at countries that have been plagued by Islamic terrorism issue(s) in the last 20 years. Even in countries where they are a minority not to talk of their own hell holes of a country. From American bombings in north America, to France and England bombings in Europe, to Australian and new Zealand massacres to Indian religious wars with Buddhists to Boko Haram massacres in west Africa. Not to talk of Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen etc that have been razed to dust by them. There is no part of the globe where moslems have been, where there hasn't been an issue of religious motivated violence.

Christians are farrr more peaceful that the proclaimed religion of peace
