Lothaire: The bolded is one of the reasons Nigeria is called basket of fools. The deceitful character of Ijaw was exposed in 1913 land agreements. |

Zooposki: Nana of Itsekiri to Olu of Warri ke? Lmao That coronation pain Urhobos like mad that they couldn't even hide the green eyes... Whyyyy? Even me was begining to wonder ..... Look at it this way, Urhobos also have their Ovies and Orodjes they can pull an even bigger ceremony in the event that any of them passes to the great beyond. You can't fault Itsekiris for respecting their traditional institutions and celebrating the coronation of an Olu with glee and fanfare. Na their culture. Ira Iwerre only have one King all over the world, at least you should understand that. Besides, I have never seen an Itsekiri laying wholesome claims to Udu, Okpe or Uvwie Warri... not even Effurun.... The coronation wasn't even in the main Warri city... what are you talking about? ... The Olu have since visited several Okpe and Urhobo kings from the Warri metropolis to extend a hand of friendship and cooperation..Baba you only saw what you wanted to see o. 4 Likes 1 Share |

scholes0: Well, I’m just a third party observer and wondered if there was a nefarious reason behind all the pomp and pageantry, given the antecedents of the Yoruboid speaking people, but if you say it’s just respect for the traditional institution, whom am I to argue. But I still believe I’m right from senses honed by my love of reading true crime books. |

Zooposki: Which antecedents of Yoruboid people? Since you want to go there; Na Yoruboid people go plot coup that plunge Nigeria into civil war? Na Yoruboid people go contest to become premier in another people's region to lord there? Na Yoruboid people treat Adaka Boro fuckup? Na Yoruboid people invade Midwest? Kwantinuu... 4 Likes |

scholes0: Did I argue that the name belonged to us? That has never been our argument. I was only giving you good reasons why the Wado city project is valid as it helps in correcting many wrong impression about a city. You are pretending not to know why the Waddo city project intensified. During the coronation. it was common to find statements like this in the media; "The oil City of Warri gets a new king" "The City in celebration as ..." An average Nigerian can barely differentiate the difference between the Kingdom that got a new king and the city which is deep in the terrain of another ethnic group. Please, when did markets become towns and villages? Who is the king of the ogbe ijoh fish market? So Igbo market in Agbasa now belongs to Ibos? I like your logic. The Igbos are recent migrants to Warri and are not Indigenous to the place, so how then can you compare Igbo market to Main market? I'm talking about Ijaw here, a group of people that had ties with her neighbors for centuries. Infact that market was a trading spot for ancient Ijaw men and they have occupied that tiny piece of land for close to 200yrs now. 2 Likes |

Efewestern: And have I said I am personally against Wado city? Infact Goodluck with making it work. Itsekiris can face their Warri squarely, while Urhobos can face Wado. No more confusion or mix-ups. Win Win. As for the second part of your submission, no comment, because you are pretending like you dont know that even within the Niger delta there are still internal migrations of people. In case you don't know Thousands of Ilajes are now permanent citizens of coastal Delta state... but they are not claiming landlordship status. The difference is that Ijaw will migrate somewhere and start claiming to own the place after barely 1 generation. If you pretend like you don't know this then I will know you are not sincere. BTW.... There are some veery old igboid elements of Ndokwa/Aboh extraction in Warri. If you want to go there you can let me know. 4 Likes |

scholes0: I know there are Ilajes in Ugborodo axis. Infact, I'm aware they have some fishing communities there. But you can't compare a migration between those two because practically they are of the same stock and would always look out for each other. What you are accusing the Ijaw of is also being done by your beloved brothers. Should we open the Sapele chapter? or should I talk about the case in Oghara? You can't cry injustice when things don't suit you but look the other way when it is done by Someone you know. That is bareface hypocrisy don't you think? And by the way, there is no such thing as tenants or landlords. If you migrate to a land and stay for more than 300 years then you are part of that land and the land is part of you. Ijaw presence in that market dates far back centuries ago. Igboid elements in Warri? Not shocking. There have always been mixture of people. No tribe share one ancestry, it's always a blend of various people. What group if I may ask? 1 Like |

NOwazobia:ijaw people are peace loving people who live a simple life and are contented with what they have, this is evident in the fact that they don't engage in robbery or ritual killing. the ijaw barely travel far or stay far away from his home town so the stupid statement of ijaws buying lands etc etc and causing trouble is a big day smelly lie. you only loathe an ijaw Man because he doesn't let anyone put their fingers in his eyes, if an ijaw Man is threatened or pushed, he will react fiercely and that is what you hate. You like people whom you'd put pepper in their eyes and they'll be smiling like Tilapia fish caught in the kolo Creek, infact all humans love people they can push around but sorry to break it to you that if you slap an ijaw Man once, he will blast your face with a wide palm 3 times. dey your lane make I dey my lane and everyone will be fine. 1 Like |

The Urhobos didn't rename warri to wado city what they want to achieve is to rename the whole Urhobo towns as Wado city and not Warri. |

Thoh:leave that fool alone... I've been following this thread and I didn't say anything much about it because I know little about the western ijaw territories, I'm only familiar with central and eastern because I am a porthacourt boy born and bred. okrika people and kalabari people of the ijaw Ethnic nationality are part owners of porthacourt, even a large section of the area are inhabitanted by my own clan men from Nembe-ijaw. Even River State and it's founding was championed more by central ijaw clans(Nembe, ibani, ogbia, okrika and kalabari men) we central ijaws intermarry more with the ikwerres (a part owner of porthacourt) so that big time mumu don't know anything. And as for Warri, the little I know of it was that Ginuwa the first son of Oba Olua(14th King of Benin) migrated with his followers to Iwerre, funny fact was that they were ferried across the river by Ijaw people who could understand a little of their language and when he came to establish his itshekiri kingdom, he met people around (ijaws and urhobo) which happened in the 1400s. whereas the ijaws had already migrated from further west(even through Benin before it was even founded) to settle in that area because they stretch along the coast from Apoi in ondo to the akwa-ibom area of obolo. Awolowo the former western premier gave the itshekiri people their great influence by renaming the Nana of itshekiri title to Olu of Warri to strengthen the Yoruba influence (because Ginuwa the first itshekiri king was of Benin ancestry, and the Benin people have an affiliation with the yorubas) It is just like an atletico Madrid fan supporting Valencia IF it faces Manchester United in the UCL final) because of the Spanish ties. Awolowo gave them the influence they have now. |
